: About Vaastu :

Vaastu is different from Architecture – an architect can construct a beautiful house but a vaastu consultant will make this house into a home. Like many of traditions – vaastu too got neglected over the centuries for want of patronage so the present society was unable to appreciate and utilise this science in the construction of Industrial complexes, and residential establishments. If construction is according to the principles of vaastu then the thinking and actions of the people working and living in these places is evolutionary and harmonious, as the divine powers which are elaborated and incorporated in the science of vaastu, support the thinking and actions of the people associated with such concerns.

Building a house in ancient India was a sacred ceremony and the house was considered a living organism. The spirit of the house was called the “Vaastu Purush” and different cardinal directions were assigned to different Gods like Brahma, Ishwara, Agni, Varun Wind, Yam and Demon – since the waves flowing in a particular direction have a specific influence – North-East or Ishaan is preceded over by God and therefor suitable for prayer room. The South-East belongs to Agni.

The central space is Brahmas and should be left open to the Heavens. The Head and Limbs of the vaastu purush are to be left along too – vaastu assigns the kitchens, chimneys and furnace and boiler to a certain corner on the basis of the wind directions; to prevent the smoke and cooking fumes from flowing into the living and working area and affecting the health of the residents. Many rules are common sense, they relate to ventilation and sunlight. But some like the subtle energy in natural and built environments that affect humans have also been verified and appreciated by many who did not believe in them initially.

Sun which radiates light and heat in the entire universe is the major cosmic entity – it is called the soul of the universe.”Surya Atman Jagatas Tasthu Khashcha” – it allows all human beings and society with a great source of energy. The all embracing motherly role of the earth is best tapped by the use of principles of vaastu.

Along with the construction, the internal decoration of the house, shop or factory is equally important. If the placement of the articles is on the basis of vaastu, the thoughts, speech and actions are supported by nature and lead to health, wealth and happiness. Thus there is a great need for the architects and the vaastu consultants to coordinate as a happy mixture of ancient heritage and modern science can go along way in assuring a posh house in which there is peace, prosperity and progress to the owner and the inmates.

: Creation of Vastu-Purush :

According to a story in Matsya – Puran, Vastu – Purusha was created from a sweat drop of Lord Shiva. Vastu – Purusha was cruel, horrifying and devoured everything on his way. When he was granted the boon of eating anything from the three worlds by Loard Shiva. All deities were terrified. So they collectively caught hold of the Vastu – Purusha and threw  him to the ground with face downwards, head in north-east and feet in south-west. 45 deities held his body, 13 from within and 32 from outside his body area. The names and relative positions of all 45 deities is given in the chart.
