Reasons for Cataract

A cataract is the clouding of the lens in your eye which causes blurred or hazy vision. Ageing is one of the most common cause for cataracts other reasons may be eye injuries (Trauma), disease and long term medication of some drugs.

How a Normal Eye Works ?

The human eye functions in much the same way as a camera. Light passes through the lens of the camera and is focused on the film.
Your eye works in a similar, but more complex manner.
Your eye also has a lens. But instead of film, the image forms on the retina, which is at the back of the eye. Normally, the lens is a clear, transparent structure through which light can freely pass and focus on the retina. The retina responds to the image and sends signals to your brain, creating an instant picture, which changes as your view changes.

How a Cataract Eye Affects Your Vision ?

Light from an object is broken up as it passes through a cloudy, discoloured lens, causing the image to be blurred and dull.

Symptoms of Cataract

There are Several Symptoms to Indicate Cataract
An early sign is increasing glare from strong sunlight or bright lights at night. This may become quite bothersome and you may notice halos around different light sources such as car headlights.

Colours that are normally bright and vibrant, may appear faded and washed out-especially greens and blues. And most noticeably, your vision will become blurred and hazy, making it difficult to read small print or perform other tasks.

If you experience some or all of these symptoms it is time for you to visit an ophthalmologist.
