 On the 11th MARCH
1924 Sj.Subhas Chandra Bose convened a meeting of the
citizens of Calcutta at the Mitra Instituion, Bhowanipur
for the purpose of establishing a orphanage, the necessity
of which was strongly felt owing to collapse at that time
of a similar institution in south Calcutta. Mr C.R.Das
presided over the meeting and it was unanimously resolved
to start the orphanage with Mr.Das as the president and
Sj.Subhas Chandra as its Secretary and Mr.Nirmal Chandra
Chunder as the Treasure.It was further resolved to name
the institution as Dakshin Kalikata Sevasram.

Kalikata Sevasram (DKS)
A social welfare Home for destitute, orphan, children who
have no place to hide their shaming poverty, no question
of right as child in their life.
Netaji Subhas Ch.Bose called them DARIDRA NARAYAN with
who abides GOD. With the object of serving these children
of Mother India the DKS was established on 11th march 1924
under the leadership of Deshabandhu Chittaranjan Das
(Founder President), Subhas Ch.Bose as Secretary and
Nirmal Chandra Chandra. In the year 1934 the DKS moved to
it s own house at 93 & 97 Sarat Bose Road. Since then
DKS has moved forward to fulfill the lofty ideals of its
founders and thousand of destitute/orphan boys have been
successfully brought up & placed in society by the
DKS. |
