Hydrocephalus – accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the head. This may cause enlargement of head, intellectual deficits and difficulty in vision. The water may accumulate either due to congenital defects in the head or spine or it may follow episodes of
meningitis. Treated early, the ill effects are avoided. Treatment involves bypassing the CSF to abdomen by a silicone tube placed internally (VP shunt). The most modern treatment is to use an endoscope to bypass the fluid inside the brain.
