On 4th July 1998 Arindam Banerjee laid the founder stone of Kalakshetra. Although Kalakshetra began its career as a mere Bharata natyam training school but it had its vision to emerge as a creative group to rule the heart of the millions.

Combining Bharatanatyam with modern Choreography Kalakshetra started representing the creative delicacy of Arindam on stage.

The first production of the group was 'Desh Amar Maa'. The enchanting choreography, breathtaking performances clearly portrayed the unforgettable sacrifices and patriotism of our freedom fighters at the Murshidabad Book fair. The unanimous response earned Kalakshetra 12 outdoor shows among which 2001 Kolaghat festival, Farakka NTPC deserve mention.

Dedication, enovation and passion to rise in the limelight marked the evolution of Kalakshetra. unqueness of the group lies in its ability to showcase the essence of a poem or a song or a novel with Bharatanatyam based modern choreography, the brain behind being Arindam, the creative director of Kakakshetra.

The driving force behind Kalakshetra is the unanimous appreciation, love and affection of the millions of audiences and the Hall of fame in this field. In 2008 Kalakshetra gave the first stage show at Gyan Mancha in Kolkata. 'Swapna Sambhaba', the latest production of the group tell us that "there is still hope for light in which we can dream for a better world amidst the darkness engulfing our society.

BHARATA NATYAM TANZ WORKSHOP INDIEN

Workshop mit Arindam Banerjee

Arindam Banerjee ist ein erfahrener  Bharata Natyam Tänzer und Choreograph und leitet das Berhampur Kalakshetra. Im Workshop wird er Einblicke geben in die verschiedenen Aspekte des Bharata Natyam wie etwa  Yogaübungen, Mudras und Mantras in Verbindung mit ihrem geistigen Hintergrund, er wird auch grundlegende Tanzbewegungen sowie kurze Tanzstücke, die leicht zu erlernen sind, vermitteln.

Rabindranath Tagore
 
They said five air-conditioned coaches of the exhibition train were modified at Liluah railway workshop in Howrah to depict Tagore's achievements and thoughts. The first coach is named as `Jibon Smriti' and depicts the life of Tagore through photographs. The second coach `Geetanjali' shows his poems and songs. Literatures of Tagore are displayed on third coach, `Jogajog/Muktodhara', while the fourth coach `Chitrrekha' depicts the paintings of Tagore and other eminent artistes. The last coach `Smaranika' exhibits and sells handicrafts and other items from Shanti Niketan, founded by Tagore.
The train is arriving here after its stay in Lucknow, Rae Bareli and Amethi. Varanasi is the final destination of this train that has already covered many parts of the country and also Bangladesh. They said the train would leave Varanasi on April 28 and terminate after reaching Bolpur in West Bengal on April 29. A cultural programme dedicated to Tagore would also be organised at Diesel Locomotive (DLW) auditorium on April 27 at 7 pm, they said and added the dance group of Arindum Banerjee, the founder of Kalakshetra cultural training academy Behampore (WB), would perform their dance drama on the occasion. It would be followed by a ballet by Debolina Pal and her team.
