About Bimalendu Chakrabarty
Mr. Bimalendu Chakraborty, a Pioneer multi-talented personality in Bengali cultural arena is unique in his own way. He is always guided by his own conscience. He was Born in 1938 in lower middle class family in Barishal district (now in Bangladesh). During the time of Partition of India, his family was settled in Calcutta (Kolkata). He often dreams of a mankind unified with some common bond of human values. Humanity and human values have gripped his thoughts and ideas to a large extent and his creation reflect it over and over again. As a contributor, he is a famous Painter - cum writer - cum Poet - Cum Novelist - cum Essayist etc. He has made his credential creations in all the above fields potentially beyond conventional media hype. Though being a painting artist, he is more mature in the field of literare.

He has a lot of poetry and prose creations. He started writing in his childhood. In his writings he has thrown light on many unknown and significant people like ‘bouls’, ‘monks’, fishermen, rural folk song urban citizens. He has essays and books on ancient history, archeology, folk art, theories of art and painting. He has also written adventure stories, short stories and novels among which many are already published and many have yet to be published. His adventure novels meant for the adolescents are mostly on archeology and early science. To speak the truth, he has revealed a new horizon in the field of juvenile literature.

A self taught artist, Bimalendu has created different types of paintings which have a deep impression on the viewery's mind. Hard struggle life has made him arrogant apparently which has left an influence on his paintings. His first solo exhibition was held at Academy of Fine Arts (calcutta) which brought him due recognisation as an artist. Almost all the art cities in India have raised his paintings for their originality and attractiveness. His creations give an image of a fighting person who has faced life in his own way.
