- The
heritage personality of our Bengali Literature, Birendra Mohon
Basu has been renowned as well as poet and editor of “Nakshatra”
(The Little Magazine). He was born on 21st January, 1937 in
Dhaka of undivided Bangladesh. His father Dhirendra Mohon Basu
and his mother Prabhabati Basu. Inspiring from his cultural
family back-ground, he always lead his life with idealism of
Equality & Socialism. He
had started his schooling from ‘Mukul’ School in
Dhaka and ended his education in St. Pauls’ College of
Calcutta. He had completed his service tenure from the Health
Dept., Govt. of West Bengal in 1995. He had been started to
write poems from his early boy-hood by the deep inspiration
from his home and the Asst. Head Master, Kaji Akkasuddin Ahmed
of High School. After coming from Dhaka to Kolkata, his poems
has been started to be published in the News Paper “Jugantar”.
From then, he had made deep attachment with writer Nanda Gopal
Sengupta (who is father of gamous Prof. Dr. Pallab Sengupta)
and famous poet Krishna Dhar (who is the president of the Editorial
Board of “Nakshatra” from 1984). He is also connected
with some International Cultural Societies. |

Nakshatra
-
In
the period of risky up & downs of his life. The Little Magazine
“Nakshatra” is now continuing his age of about 40
years of strong journey. Now
it is one of the top of Bangali Little Magazine published quarterly.
This Magazine has two keen movement – One is to “Culture
on Mother Language” and another is on “Nari Jagat
(World of Females)”. And after-all theses two are the
basic reflection of a Nation. This is the noble contribution
of “Nakshatra” to our society under the editing
by Birendra Mohon Basu. Writers, Poets, Novelist, Professors,
Researchers, Social Works, Journalists all have been giving
their literary creations through this magazine. So “Nakshatra”
is the unique cultural little magazine who has made its credential
in this critical socio structure of our Society. |
