Dipak Chakraborty born in a family of music lovers. His talim has florished under the guidance of Sri. Rashbehari Chakraborty, Sri. Ranjit Kr. Barua (a worthly disciple of Late Ustad Keramattulah Khan) and finally he came in contact with Table wizard Ustad Sabir Khan, from whom he still receives his training. He belongs to great Farrukhabad Gharana and also captured the styles of other Gharanas in the Indian Tabla traditions.
Dipak performed many prestigious musical concert & festival in various places in India and abroad. He accompanied successfully with several top graded artiste such as Pandit V.G. Jog, Pandit Manilal Nag, Pandit Kamal Mullick, Pandit Goverdhan Mishra, Ustad Saeed Zafar Khan, Pandit Kartick Kumar, Baul Samrat Purnadas and many others. He played Tabla solo in Kolkata Doordharshan and a musical interviewer and artiste in All India Radio.
Dipak is an examiners and Instructor of various Universities and Boards. He is a Board member of Tabla in Kolkata Musical Board, Vishmadcv memorial Trust, Suranandan Bharati, Prachin Kala Kendra Chandigarh. He is also outstanding composer for Dance and Music. His famous book "Tali Theke Taal" has been published in Kolkata Book Fair-2001. He is the Secretary of "Swami Haridas Sangeet Sammelan", Kolkata.
He is selected for empanelment in the "Indian Council for cultural relations", Govt. of India, reference panel of artiste. In the year 2004-2005, he is selected International Artiste of the year Tabla for represent the Indian culture in world wide, by Govt. of India. He is completely involved in Howrah District Information Centre, West-Bengal State music academy, Govt. of W.Bengal, Howrah Municiple Corporation, Eastern Zonal cultural Centre, Govt of India Kendriya Vidyalaya Monitaring Commitee and working on World Peace & Harmony as a musical convanaiour. In academic side he is Graduate. He got Tabla Vivakar & Visharad. Dipak introduce various young artistes and give them an opportunity perform Indian Classical Music.
