| Dr.
Arunabha Sengupta studied in R.G. Kar Medical
College and did his medical graduation from the University
of Calcutta in 1975. After residency and post graduate
training he obtained the degree of Master of Surgery
in 1979 while working as the resident medical officer
of Cancer Centre & Welfare Home,Thakurpukur. |

| After
a brief stint in West Bengal Health Service, he rejoined
the department of Surgical Oncology of Cancer Centre
& Welfare Home as a deputy visiting surgeon in 1982.
He was subsequently promoted to the post of a full consultant
with responsibility for a special unit of Head &
Neck Surgery and then became the In-charge of the department
of Surgery where he worked till November 2003. He joined
Kothari Medical Centre as consultant surgical oncologist
in 1995. Presently he is attached AMRI hospital, Kothari
Medical Centre, and Woodlands Hospital as consultant
surgical oncologist. He has also started one unit for
surgical oncology in Calcutta Heart Clinic in Salt Lake
for patients residing in Salt Lake and adjacent areas
of North 24 Parganas. |

As
a professional Dr. Sengupta
has carried out vast numbers of cancer surgeries which
include complicated gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary
and pancreatic surgeries and surgeries for head and
neck cancers and breast cancers with reconstructive
techniques. |

He
is practicing in Kolkata with good reputation for the
last twenty five years and is grateful for the appreciation
and support he has received from his medical colleagues
and patients. |

As
an academician he has a good number of presentations
to his credit in both national and international levels.
He has delivered orations, guest lectures, and CME lectures
in many cancer conferences, including the prestigious
Prof. Amiya Sen memorial lecture and has received the
award for Professional Excellency from A.S.I. He edited
the News Letter on cancer for many years and has many
publications to his credit including articles and editorials
in national dailies on subjects relating to cancer treatment.
He is well traveled and had visited many reputed cancer
centers abroad like the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer
Centre, NY, NIH Washington, Free University Hospital
Amsterdam, Christie Hospital, Manchester and was the
invited visiting fellow of The Memorial Regional Cancer
Hospital Miami in 1999. |

Dr.
Sengupta is a member of professional bodies like
Association of Surgeons of India, Indian Association
of Surgical Oncology, and Indian Medical Association
and Indian Academy of Medical Specialists. He has organized
state and national level surgical and oncological conferences
and international workshops with WHO collaboration.

is a member of the Rotary International since 1989 and
has founded a charitable trust called CROP to join hands
to the nation wide fight against the disease cancer. |
