A.
Performance done abroad:
Being
invited by the Hong Kong Bengali Association I participated
in a Cultural Programme organized as a part of its Bejoya
Sammelani Celebration on the 26th October, 2002 held at Mariner's
Club, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong. In this connection
I stayed in Hong Kong as a guest of the Hong Kong Bengali
Association from 23 October to 30 October 2002.
Being
invited by the Shurer Dharn (a School of Rabindra Sangeet)
on the occasion of its 10th Anniversary Celebration I participated
as an instrumentalist (Esraj player) in its combined and solo
programmes held at different dates throughout the month of
April, 2003.

B.
Institutional Recognition :
The
Music Audition Committee of All India Radio (Yuvavani) approved
me for broadcast engagement in Esraj (Classical) from Yuvavani
upto the age of 30 years on 21.6.99.
In
1999 I was awarded Second prize in the All India Radio Music
Competition in Hindustani Classical Instrumental Music in Esraj.

Participation in National Programmes:
Being
invited by the All India Radio, Calcutta Station, 1 attended
and participated in the performance Esraj recital in Prize Winning
Ceremony concert before invited audience in All India Radio,
Mumbai for 17 minutes on 25.2.2000 in Mumbai.

Participation in the Functions of the Visva Bharati :
Attendance
to most of the functions of the Visva-Bharati specially as an
instrumentalist (Esraj) has been my common practice since the
beginning of my life as a student of Sangeet Bhaban.

Performance in individual capacity:
Beside this, I also played Esraj in the C.Ds and cassettes of
Rabindra Sangit, Nazrul Giti, Puratani, D. L. Roy etc. with
many renowned singers of West Bengal and Bangladesh. |

Appreciation from the Press :
After the completion of the East Zone Inter University Youth
Festival, 1999 The News Line remarked on 25 November, 1999:"
Six participants from different universities competed. The performance
of Shubhaya (sic) Sen Mqjumdar (Esraj) Biswa Bharti (sic), Santiniketan,
Ms. Geeta (Mandolin), Manipur University, Imphal and Sukhdev
Prasad Mishra (Violine), Bananras Hindu University. Varanasi
was worth witnessing. (The News Line, No. 4, 25 November. 1999,
p. 2.)
On 21 August Sangeet Bhavan of Viswa-Bharati presented Varsha
mangal' at Rabindra Sadan where I participated. To this comment
made in Telegraph that- "There were a few magical moments.Subhuyu
Sen Majundar's esraj prelude created the Hambir backdrop to
the veiled abhisarika's entry on stage before the singers joined
in unison to sing Timir abagunthane", 'If it's monsoon,
it has to be Tagore', The Telegraph, 30 August, 2002. |
