Nestled

It forms transition between the Himalayan range in the north
and the dusty plains of Punjab in the south. The Dogras, Hindhu
by faith, constitute the dominant ethnic group. The city of
Jammu, the winter capital of the state is base for visiting
various tourist and pilgrimage centres in Jammu province.
Ragunath temple located in the heart of the Jammu city is
the most popular pilgrimage site. Being located in the heart
of the city it is flocked by both locals and outsiders alike.
It is the largest temple complex in Northern India. This temple
is dedicated to the incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Bahu Fort,
Bage-E-Bahu, Amar Palace and Dogra Art Gallery are some other
tourist attractions in Jammu city.
The holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishnodevi ji, 60 Km north of
Jammu city is the most popular Hindhu pilgrimage, attracting
more than (70,00,000) seven millions devotees annually. The
Yatra to the holy shrine is open round the clock year round.
Katra 48 Km north of Jammu is the last point for vehicular
transports and base for Mata Vaishnodeviji Shrine. Frequent
bus services (both Luxury & Ordinary) operated by the
State Road Transport Corporation and private operators are
available both at the Railway Station and the General Bus
Stand. Besides bus services all type of taxis are also available.
The Yatra involves an uphill journey of 5,200 ft. over a distance
of 12 Km from Katra. The entire stretch of 12 KM trail is
well laid and tiled. Facilities of neat & clean/hygienic
shelter sheds, Resting places, Drinking water, public conveniences,
First Aid centres and fast food counters are available all
along this trail for the convenience of the general pilgrims.

Sudh Mahadev (120
Km.), Purmandal (40 Km.), Shiv Khori (120 Km.), Mantalai &
Gauri Kund (114 Km.) from Jammu are other important Hindhu pilgrimage
centres in Jammu province.
Patnitop, Sanasar, Mansar, Kud and Batot are some of the popular
hill resorts in Jammu region. White water rafting, trekking,
paragliding and skiing are some popular sports here. Jammu festival
(2nd. & 3rd. week of April) and Navratra festival (Sept.-Oct.)
are very popular annual celebrations. There are plenty of hotels

TO REACH :
Rail :-
Jammu is well connected with all major cities in India through
rail.
Air :- Regular Flights of Indian Airlines, Jet
Airways, Spice Jet, Kingfisher, Air Deccan, Go Air and Air Sahara
connect Jammu with Delhi and Srinagar. Go Airways fly between
Mumbai and Jammu regularly whereas Indian Airlines connect Jammu
with Leh on every Monday & Friday.
Road:- Daily direct buses of various categories
to and from Jammu to major cities of Northern India are also
