About
Her : Shuchisree Ray, born in a musical family, got
her earliest training from her mother. Then she had her initial
taalim in "Dhrupad" from Sri Robi Mallick and "Khayal"
from Pandit Arun Bhaduri, - Guru now in ITC Sangeet Research
Academy and from Pandit Manas Chakraborty.
She
has arrived however via "Kirana" at the threshold
of "Agra"/ "Gowalior" Gayaki. She has been
receiving intensive taalim since 1999 from the well -known author
and musicologist Pandit Kumar Prasad Mukherjee who is also the
senior most disciple of "Agra" and "Saswan"
Gharana. As a result She has beautifully blended the "Alaap"
and "Vistaar"of "Agra" and "Kirana"
Gayaki with the well knit bandishes and bol baat, bol taan and
layakari of "Agra" and "Gwalior" Gharana.
She
got her lesson in Thumri, Dadra, Tappa, Kajri etc. under the
guidance of Vidushi Purnima Chowdhury, - the worthy disciple
of Maestro Pandit Mahadeo Mishra of Benaras
She
is performing all around the country and abroad as well noteworthy
are : "ALL BENGAL MUSIC CONFERENCE, organised by ministry
of Culture Govt. of West Bengal, SA RE GA MA HMV & JALSAGHAR,
SANKAT MOCHAN MAHOTSAV, VARANASI, Vishnu Digambar Festival,
Agra", "Uttaradhikar Festival of M. P. Govt.",
"Abhinaba Kala Parishad, Bhopal", "National Kathak
Dance
Seminar organized by U. G. C.", "Vishnu Mandir, Gaya"
and prestigious concerts in different parts' of Europe and Bangladesh.
Her
performance has been widely acclaimed among the general Music
- buffs as well as the connoisseurs. The Statesman reviews,
