He was initiated in music at a very early age by his father. Later he had the privilege of accompanying several well-known artistes in musical instruments namely keyboard(synthesizer) and the guitar.Years later folk music fascinated him to the extent that he visited many places even outside West Bengal to learn more about this art form. His keen interest and development subsequently provided him with an opportunity to provide musical score in the first Adivasi film.

From 2000 to 2010 he provided keyboard accompaniment in various musical programmes telecasted by Zee Bangla. Also was the music director for Bengali films "Naachni" and "Manas Priya".Other films where he has provided the musical score and are awaiting release are "Paanch Loafer" and "Ki Holo Ki Hobay".

The modern times has become a bit of a threat to folk music and in order this neglected art form do not slide into oblivion a folk music group "Metopath"was formed in 2000.The people who were behind this initiative were Bappa Chatterjee,Bibhas Kundu,Raja Das,Deenbandhu and Gour Ghosh.In the collections of Metopath one can dwell into the intricacies of jhumur.tusu,bhadu,Saontali,Chhapel,jari and sari.Metopath in these years have not only performed folk music programmes throughout India but also have been able to support quite a few struggling artistes in the world of folk music.Their lok album is "porechi ki Jwala Re"is popular.In Raga music 2006 press release among the invitees were former Minister Subash Chakraborty, Surajit from "Bhumi" and music director Ashok Bhadra.
