Since inception, the first target of Barasat Anweshan became to arrange for shelter for the parentless and homeless street children. Ultimately an orphanage named "Nivedita Home" was born at the Harpara complex. There we are providing shelter, proper education, food, clothing and other necessities for the children, free of cost. We never forget to give them the chances for sports, cultural activities, meditation, health check-up- everything to build them up to a responsible citizen of the country. We are giving them a pleasant atmosphere so that they can feel themselves as the members of a single family. Thus, instead of joining the association of underworld or growing up as child labour, they can now be brought up to join the mainstream of the civilized society. Now, many of them are grown up and have the sense of responsibility towards their juniors. Never they feel themselves alienated from the society or neglected by else.

We also provide them the access to vocational training, life skills training, and psycho-social support. Vocational training includes computer training, secretarial skills, English Language course, handicraft and fabric work, maintenance and repairing of computer/ television etc. The strategic goal of these programs is to prepare them in such a way that, they can gain entrance into the formal sector of the economy after saying Goodbye to the orphanage. |
