ANWESHAN (Meaning: Find/Search) was born in 2003 under the leadership of Mr. Shyamal Ray Chowdhury, an Eminent Social Worker and Educationist. The main thrust of Anweshan is to work with children and women who are socially disadvantaged and economically exploited. So Anweshan works for their social upliftment and economic emancipation. To achieve the above objective Anweshan is basically engaged in the delivery of Microfinance, Education and Health services to the poor and marginalized people with special emphasise on women and children.
Anweshan started its journey by establishing an Orphanage and Boarding school in 2003.
Anweshan has been engaged in the delivery of Microfinance service from 2005. The Microfinance operation started from Harpara, a small village under the District of North 24 Parganas. The model followed is individual lending through Self Help Group (SHG) formation.
Anweshan believes that Microfinance is not the last word for the development of the poor. So it offers development activities in crucial fields of education, health, unemployment and livelihood through its non-profit entity. |
