Our activities throughout the year revolve round the four main programs as given below:

 
Educate the women to educate the whole community
 

1)  WOMEN SOCIAL EMPOWERMENT:

Social Empowerments of women by ensuring there direct access to and control over, resources through a sustainable process of mobilization.

  • Establishment of self-reliant women's Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
  • Creation of confidence and awareness among members of SHGs regarding women's status, health, nutrition, education, sanitation and hygiene, legal rights, economic upliftment and other social, economic and political issues;
  • Strengthening and institutionalizing the savings habit in rural women and their control over economic resources;
  • Improving access of women to micro credit; involvement of women in local level planning;


The project aims at enhancing women's to resources for better quality of life through use of drudgery and time reduction devices, health, literacy & confidence enhancement and increasing their control over their income through their involvement in skill development\and income generating activities.

Focus giving on micro-enterprise promotion in the on-farm and non-farm sector, convergence, networking and bank-linkages. A recent assessment has zeroed down areas of focus for the next phase as micro-enterprise promotion in the on-farm and non-farm sector, convergence, improving credit absorption capacity of SHGs, community asset creation and health, hygiene & environmental sanitation, including generating awareness, mobilising women into groups, creating leadership and simultaneously sensitizing men to evoke their support for the development and empowerment of the women in the project. The project also envisages direct interventions in the health, education and training. The project will ultimately lead to lower fertility and a balance between population and resources to sustain the population.

Programme seeks to provide updated skills and new knowledge to poor and asset less women in the traditional occupation, such as, agriculture, animal husbandry, dairying, fisheries, handlooms, handicrafts, social forestry and wasteland development for enhancing their productivity and income generation. This would enhance and broaden their employment opportunities, including self-employment and development of entrepreneurial skills.

Under This Programme Awareness Programme was made on Female Foeticide, Dowry, Consumer protection, Pregnancy Care, Family Planning. Also Counselling services has been given to the victimised women.

2) CHILDREN SOCIAL INTEGRATION:

A large number of children do not go to school. The majority of drop-outs engage in occupations at low wages, and suffer all other forms of exploitation as child-labour. MAYA FOUNDATION is making attempts to bring all non-going children in the project areas under the umbrella of education.

We are running a Educational Centre namely 'Sahaj Path'to the Students from Nursery to Class IV and to nourish them to unfold their creative excellence that they can participate in the nation building as a good citizen in the near future. Thus through different educational interventions we have made our students confident about their self progressing attitude to and our teachers are the facilitators of unfolding the petals of the students that is the quality development leading towards quality education.

We were also opened this year a Pre-Nursery Centre called Sumangal for the pre-nursery students.

Celebration of Special days:-
We celebrated the "History of Golden Day" like the "Independence Day" and "Republic Day", its a day of Revolution, its a day of Honour, its a day of pride. We dedicated these days for our freedom fighters and their work for Mother Land.

Birthday celebration programme is one of the most important programme of our organization. This humble work is dedicated to the hallowed memory of the great person who devoted themselves to the noble task. Gandhi Birthday, Netaji Birth Day,Swam/ Vivekananda Birthday, Rabindra Nath Tagore Birth day, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Birth Day was celebrated.

Food Management:-
This programs to provide nutritious meal to under privileges homeless poor community and this program is running successfully for several years, also highly recommended by the local community members.

Book Distribution:-
If we look at the status of school going children of SC and OBC community we would find that there is no dearth of merit amongst them. But they are unable to utilize their merit due to poverty. Either they have to stop their study by dropping out themselves from the schools or have to join hands with their parents to earn livelihood.

Keeping in view of the above, we are distributing books to the poor, needy and meritorious students of the said communities since inception of the Organization. This year also, we have distributing quite a large quantity of books to the children

3) SOCIAL BONDING ENHANCEMENT:


Social bonding includes social bonding to the school, to the workplace and to the community. To enhance this social bonding among the students every year we organized the following activities that helped the students and others to be involved in our activities mingled with socialization process.

High levels of self-esteem and positive school, peer, and family connections represent protective factors against youth involvement in risky behavior. The programme consisted of four components: 1) relationship building, 2) self-esteem enhancement, 3) goal setting,  4) academic assistance.

4) SOCIAL HEALTH IMPROVEMENT:

HIV Awareness:-
One of our objectives is to contribute towards minimizing human suffering in the fields of health, HIV / AIDS, through awareness programmes, referrals and counseling to facilitate generation of options for crisis resolution. The program objective is to contributing towards minimizing human suffering, especially where health is concerned. To achieve this, we endeavour to pay more attention to health facilities for vulnerable population. We observed World AIDS Day and on this day we organized awareness camps on HIV/AIDS & STIs. The main goal is to that this epidemic can be controlled and the incidence of HIV infections is minimized.

The sensitization campaigns also conducted for women particularly pregnant, youth, school students in the area. This cruel disease has already been entered in our service area and creating panic and havoc among the different sections of people.


HEALTHY HABITS FOR CHILDREN:-
The organization has been provided its services to the children and their mothers by its animators to propagate four basic principles of keeping health & hygienic through good practices which are as follows:

  • To wash hands before eating
  • To enroll each girl child at the School that they must have their education upto class VIII and further if any one aspires for higher education.
  • Caring AN & PN Mothers at the family with proper scientific know how, specially the Behavioral aspect of communication with AN & PN Mothers.
  • Sanitation and hygienic behavior after toilet like hand washing and good hygienic practices.

TRAFFIC RULES AWARENESS:-
We have organized different programme on Traffic Rules and also celebrating Road safety week by the assistance of local youth club. We also engaged the school students and also local youth club members in this progrmme. Tea, Snacks, whistle and jacket marked "Road Safety week" were distributed amongst the participants. The police was highly satisfied in our programme.

 

HEALTH CHECK UP CAMPS:-
As in the past year, a free medical check-up camp for Mother and children and the community members was organized. Doctors examined approx 560 patients. Patients who need specialized care were referred to the hospital for second opinion and further treatment.

  • Growth monitoring of the children
  • Formation of women health group

MEDICINE FOR DISTRIBUTION:-
The Owners of the local medicinal shops have extended their hands to the organization in developing awareness of the people regarding the diseases which are commonly found among the people and distributing medicine among the people. A total of 10 medicinal camps of one day duration have been organized. The number of participants per camp varied from minimum of 35 and maximum 54. These camps have been proved to be useful for the community members.


HOMEOPATHY AND ALLOPATHY CLINICS:-
We are working for the financially constrains urban poor and rural the poor villagers. They are deprived of medical treatment and health care. Absence of qualified Doctors in rural areas create difficulties besides cost of treatment beyond the reach at the poor people. In this list context, we have opened a charitable Allopathic and Homeopathic clinic; the villagers are getting treatment this year with medicine facilities free of cost.

EYE CLINIC-
In this year we were opened Eye clinic, where Eye screening and eye operation was conducted by specialized Doctors. Accordingly in this year also we provided our services among the approx 1,000 patients.
