1. Withdrawals

The Principal may any time and without assigning reasons ask a parent to withdraw his/her son /daughter if in her / his opinion, such a course of action is considered necessary in the best interest of the Academy.

A parent desiring to withdraw his / her son / daughter may give the Principal at least two month's notice in writing. Transfer certificates, school leaving certificate, testimonials and examination certificates will not be issued until all School sessions dues are paid. A No Dues Certificate is to be obtained from the librarian.







2. Examination : Continuous Evaluation

Promotion will be granted on the basis of whole year's Performance, 50% weightage is given to the Annual Examination. 20% to monthly Class Work, and Classroom participation. A student must secure at least 40% marks in each subject to qualify for promotion. It a student fails in the same class for two consecutive years, he will not be allowed to continue in the Academy.

 

 


3. Curriculum

A pupil receives an all round education by adopting a carefully planned syllabus ensuring physical, mental and social development. Through extensive project work student develop a sense of satisfaction and achievement, co-curricular activities are conducted effectively under the House system and cultural societies to inculcate creativity and leadership quality, Education imparted at the Academy becomes functional, interactive, enjoyable.





4. Attendance

Parents / Guardians are requested to co-operate with the Academy authorities to ensure that their wards attend school regularly. Students must fulfill 75% - 80% of attendance otherwise promotion will be withheld.

If a student remains absent without leave letter for more than 10 days, his name will be struck off the rolls and readmission fees shall be charged.


 



5. ldentityCard

The parent/Guardian is requested to carry the identity card of his/her ward issued by the Academy, whenever he/she visits the Academy for any matter concerning the boy, or to pick him up. This card is to be shown to the Academy gatekeeper before entering the Academy premises and also the Academy bus conductor when receiving the boy at the collection point. Loss of identity card must be reported to the Principal of the Academy immediately.

 




6. Discipline

Violation of School discipline and disregard of school rules and other misbehavior particularly cheating in test and Examinations may be punished with stern measures including expulsion from the Academy. It is to be noted that the school discipline is the most vital part of training at the Modern Academy.

 

 


7. Special Tutorials

If a boy is found weak in a particular subject special Tutorial classes may sometimes be arranged for him on application to the Principal / Director. Tutorials otherwise without the permission or knowledge of the Academy is strongly discouraged.




8. Parent Teacher Meetings

Parent-teacher Meetings are arranged periodically after the assessment Tests and answer scripts are shown to discuss the total performance of their wards.

The Modern Academy is one of the very few schools in this metropolis where the teacher-student ratio is optimal giving scope for close monitoring of the all round development of each student. A sjudent here is not just a face in a crowd but a distinct individual for each teacher.

At the commencement of each academic year the Principal personally holds orientation meetings with the parents of all classes separately so that teachers and parents can work in harmony to bring out the potential of a child.

 

 

 

 

 

9. Annual Sports

Student's counselling is done as and when required by the Director & Principal. Parents are called by the class teachers or subject teacher individually when a student tends to be indifferent to his/her studies or develops some behavioral problems. The Modern Academy, a new age educational school offers excellent all round education for boys and girls up to ISC level. The strength of the Academy lies in its well-qualified and experienced teaching staff; well-equipped laboratories, library & com puter department. The Academy also has provision for karate, Kumite and yoga. Extra curricular activities like quiz, debate, elocution, creative writing & drawing competitions are organized on a regular basis. Excursions and winter camps, summer camps, winter festivals have been introduced to benefit the students to be self-reliant and for the inculcation of team spirit.

 

 

 

 


10. Dates and Modes of Payment of School Fees

Those who wish to pay school fees in a single instalment may do so at the commencement of the academic year.

Tuition fees are normally payable by the 15th day of the current month.

The fees should be paid by cash or crossed cheque / Bank Draft in favour of "The Modern Academy" Payable at Kolkata.

12. General

  1. Every pupil has been allotted a roll number. This has also been written in his bill book. Kindly quote this number and his/her class in all correspondence to the school.
  2. Parents/Guardians are requested to sign the progress reports in the appropriate place at the proper time and to note the number of days their ward has been absent during the term.
  3. Parents/Guardians are also requested to notify the school of any change in address/telephone Number.
  4. Examination result will be issued at the end of every term.
  5. The School is not responsible for the loss of personal belongings. It is inadvisable for boys to bring valuables to school.
  6. Parents and Guardians are not allowed to see their children of meet teachers during school hours.
  7. School leaving Certificates will be issued only after all dues to the school have been cleared.
  8. All correspondence to the Principal should be addressed to him/her by designation and not by name.
  9. Parents are requested not to phone the school on days when there is heavy rain, suspension of public transport or any other emergency. The school will make every effort to contact the parent first. However, in case this is not possible, the School authorities will take the necessary remedial measures.
  10. Pupils are strictly forbidden to leave the School Premises or grounds during regular School hours. Permission to do so may be granted by the Principal.
  11. Pupils are required to take part in various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities conducted under the House system. Attendance and Participation at such functions is compulsory.
  12. If fees are in arrears results will be with held.
  13. Report cards will be kept in the custody of the school authorities and sent home after every examination.
  14. Report cards should be returned duly signed within three days of issue.
  15. Scratching, overwriting of tampering with the entry in the Report Card is strictly forbidden.
  16. Once a pupil misses a test/exam it will not be taken again.
  17. In case of losing the Report Card a duplicate may be issued on payment of Rs. 50/-
