Breast Reduction:

Depending on your personal situation, the procedure can be performed in an outpatient facility or you may have to stay at least one night in the hospital. In either case, you will be given general anesthesia, which means you will be put to sleep for the procedure. It's important to have someone with you who can drive you home and stay with you at least the first night if you're not staying in the hospital.

The surgery itself will take about three to five hours. Your surgeon will make an incision around your nipple, then downward on the breast, in a keyhole form. The excess skin, tissue and fat are removed and your nipple is relocated for cosmetic purposes. Your surgeon may use drainage tubes and the incision site is then sutured. Your breasts will be wrapped in special gauze. If required, you may also wear a surgical bra.

Reduction Mammoplasty  Defined :
The surgical procedure to give the woman smaller, better-shaped breasts in proportion with the rest of her body removing fat, glandular tissue, and skin from the breasts, making them smaller, lighter, and firmer and also reducing the size of the areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple is generally referred to as“Reduction Mammoplasty”. Some of the medical reasons for opting for this surgery are to get rid of back or neck pain, shoulder groves, rashes and or bruises, pain caused by large pendulous breast. Reduction Mammoplasty  Advised To :
Normally women who want her breasts to be proportional to the rest of her body and feel more comfortable are good cases. Mammoplasty is generally advised to the following women whose :

1. Breasts are too large in proportion to her body frame
   
2. Have heavy pendulous breast with nipples that point downwards
   
3. One breast that is much larger than the other.
   
4.  Heavy Breasts are the cause of persistent Back, Neck or Shoulder Pain

Treatment:
Excess breast tissue, fat and skin, the nipple and areola are moved to a higher position after your surgeon has removed the excess tissue. Individual anatomy and personal preferences will determine the specific technique selected to reduce the size of your breasts. It might be necessary to remove the excess fat may from the armpits using Liposuction.


One of the most common methods involves making three incisions:

• Around the areola.
  
• Vertically from the bottom edge of the areola to the crease underneath the breast.
  
• Horizontal beneath the breast, following the natural curve of the breast crease.

Period Of Treatment :
The surgical procedure requires overnight hospitalization which might be extended to another day.

Post Operative Treatment :
Until the swelling and bruising subsides, you will need to wear a support bra for about six weeks.

Breast Enlargement Surgery Explained:

Breast Silicone Implants Surgery : Normally carried out through implanting a silicone shell filled with silicone of desired size. This is surgically placed behind each breast by cosmetic & plastic surgeons to increase the size and or change the appearance of breasts. These Silicone implants come in different sizes and shapes to suit the patient needs. The method of inserting and positioning the implants will depend on your anatomy and your surgeon's recommendation. The incision can be made either in the crease where the breast meets the chest, around the areola (the dark skin surrounding the nipple), or in the armpit. Every effort will be made to assure that the incision so is placed such that the resulting scars will be as secretive as possible. The surgery usually takes one to two hours to complete. Stitches are used to close the incisions, which may also be taped for greater support. A gauze bandage may be applied over your breasts to help with healing.

Breast Fat Implants : Also known as Breast Fat Grafting. This surgical procedure is a combination procedure of Light Liposuction and Fat Implants i,e, Grafts. First of all the Plastic and Cosmetic surgeon harvests excess fat from donor areas such as abdomen, thighs, hips, back etc. through light liposuction. These extracted fat cells are then injected using special syringe in the breast area. The procedure is less invasive in comparison to the Breasts Implants procedure and the patient is normally mobile within 3 days of surgery and the healing for liposuction cum fat grafting is over within a fortnight (2 weeks).

The Advantages of Breast Fat Implants procedure (Breast Fat Injection) are that it needs lesser time for recovery and the chances of any rejection of own body fat are zero. Because of light liposuction of unwanted body fat the patient's body attains a somewhat much more contoured and youthful look.

The main Disadvantage of Breast Fat Grafting procedure (Breast Fat Injection) is that the injected fat cells gets absorbed by the body - it is a natural process. It has been seen that anything between 25% to 50% of the injected fat gets absorbed during the first 90 days of Fat Grafting. There after (After 90 days) whatever fat is left it remains intact permanently. What percent of fat would be absorbed by the body after Buttocks fat grafting varies from individual to individual.

Post operative Treatment:

• In most instances, the surgeon will see you on the second post-op day to be sure that you are doing well and to start the very important routine of the post-op displacement massage.
  
• As your breasts will probably be sensitive to direct stimulation for two to three weeks, so you should avoid much physical contact in this period.
  
• Your scars can be prominent for at least six weeks and they may tend to remain the same size for several months. After this period, they will gradually begin to fade, although they will never disappear completely.
  
• Regular examination and routine mammograms for those in the appropriate age groups at prescribed intervals will help assure that any complications or sequlae, if they occur, can be detected early and treated.
