Surangama Majumder was introduced to kathak at the tender age of four by Ms. Subhra Banerjee. Subsequently she was tutored by the renowned katthak dancer debashree Bhattachariya. She had also expended her range by learning Rabindra Nritya, creative and folk under the guidance of Ms. Poly Guha. She also learnt Odissi under Ms. Kaberi Sen.

Not only she performed in several programs in Kolkata and in other part of the Country but has won several awards in folk dance from Sarbabharitiya Sangeet & Sanaskriti Parisad. She is at present running a dance Institute “Nrityani”at Behala in Kolkata. She is a Geography Honors Graduate from Ashutosh College. When she is in free she devotes himself in painting.
