Young Talent Contest

The School brings this unique event to encourage children to bring out their latent musical abilities in the open. School all over Calcutta compete for prizes in the two categories – Popular and Classical.

The Classical Section comprises of solo instrumental items such as, piano, violin, guitar and the flute. The Popular Group, which so far contains only vocal items, has two sections – Indian and English, and can be sung solo or in a group.

The competition is judged by eminent exponents of the categories concerned. The last Contest was held on the 6 th October 2004 . The preliminaries were held at the School and the finals were held at the ITC Sheraton Hotel. 59 schools participated. All the participants are given Certificates. All winners and runners up (instruments and vocal categories) in the ‘solo' categories were given medals and special certificates. The winning school in each ‘group' category was given a trophy and each member was given a special certificate.

Inter-School Music Quiz

This activity is held every year at the end of May. In 2005, due to the special request made by the various schools the date has been postponed till November/December. The trophies are awarded for three different places e.g. the Winner, First Runners-Up and Second Runners-Up. This quiz is conducted by the well-known quiz-master Mr. Barry O'Brien.

During the quiz for the year 2004 the Winner was Frank Anthony Public School , and the two Runner-Ups were the South Point High School and the Julian Day school.
