About Hutom Pyancha:

Kaliprasanna Sinha a 19th century Bengali Litterateur –wrote an immemorial novel in early nineteenth century named Hutom Paynchar Naksha(the observant owl) in colloquial language of contemporary Bengal- which was much a modern concept in that time. The subject was the then Kolkata- & the affluent BABU society of it, it’s the social & moral decay-truly observing Kolkata from an unbiased angel & in a very humble manner. The protagonist of the literary sketch-Hutom Payncha is our inspiration while we talk about our city & try give glimpses or birds eye view of different typicality of our beloved Kolkata. It has so many flaws, imperfection, disgusts -still it has the magic of life flowing in its vain-its defeated in all sense- still not facing towards death- we can hear the echo in the air of the city - the famous dialogue from Ritwik Ghatak’s Meghe Dhaka Tara –ami kintu banchte cheyechhilam… (but I wanted to live…!!!)

We at Hutom Payncha found there is really a sorry absence of a  platform which is modern, tasteful, historically aware & dynamic enough to introduce the city to a stranger presenting its true pulse- the city’s magic is not about some mere colonial building or monuments the magic lies in its multifaceted diversity- the very life style of it. Hutom dare to unveil the very spirit of Kolkata in an intimate manner…
