Ashis Chattopadhyay (Director / Guru /President) :

Born in Kolkata, Ashis Chattopadhyay, a promising young playwright - director, started his career in 1980. He founded his own theatre troupe Gobardanga Shilpayan in 1980 at Gobardanga, a remote village 57 Km. away from Kolkata. With over 10 short and full length plays and 2 scripts (Bonbaoalir Satya Mithya and Titumir) for All India Radio to his credit, he has entitled himself as one of the leading playwrights of our time. He has distinguished himself as a visionary director and a remarkably sensitive stage actor, while most of his plays have been presented in Bengali by Gobardanga Shilpayan. He has charmed theatre world with his versatile genious.
Ashis Chattopadhyay established a theatre school ( Gobardanga Shilpayan Natya Vidyalaya) which blended his artistic sensibility and passion. A testimony to this tact lies in the successful directorial presentation of plays like ‘Raktakarabi’, ‘Raja Oedepaus’, ‘Madhab Malanchi Kanya’, ‘Maladak’, ‘Sampriti Bilas’, ‘Swapner Feriwala’, ‘Taraprasanner Kirti’, ‘Colonel -Ke Keu Chithi Lekhe Na’, ‘ Shylock Upakhyan’,‘Tamas’, ‘Antarjali Yatra’ , ‘Satya Shylock’, ‘Ankur’ . ‘Khowab’, ‘Brindabner Che’ and ‘Bhoot Puran’, 'Colonel - Ke Keu Chithi Lekhe Na' and 'Maladak,' etc.
He has also participated in the NATIONAL KALAJATHA - 2003 ( a theatre workshop) as a Resource person from West Bengal conducted by noted theatre diretor Mr. M. K. Raina in Bhopal, Madhyapradesh.
                                                                              Ashis Chattopadhyay is also a member of PASCHIMBANGA NATYA ACADEMY & CALCUTTA JOURNALISTS CLUB. Member of MINARVA REPERTORY THEATRE I & CA Department Govt. of West Bengal.

Ashis Chattopadhyay also participated as an invitee Director in the MINARVA REPERTORY THEATRE ( a theatre production - Haju Minyer Kissya). He is winner of the Government and Prominent Private Organisation awards eg:

Dipa Brahma (Vice. President / Actress) :

Born in November 15, 1966 in Kolkata, Dipa Brahma , one of the brilliant and talented young actress of contemporary Bengali theatre with her versatility. Under the Direction of the Director playwriter Sri Ashis Chattopadhyay, Srimati Brahma has a lead-role in all the stage winning production of Gobardanga Shilpayan like - ‘Raktakarabi’, ‘Raja Oedepaus’, ‘Madhab Malanchi Kanya’ (character - Malanchi), ‘Maladak’, ‘Sampriti Bilas’, ‘Swapner Feriwala’, ‘Taraprasanner Kirti’, ‘Colonel -Ke Keu Chithi Lekhe Na’, ‘Tamas’, ‘Antarjali Yatra’ (character - Jasoboti), ‘Satya Shylock’, ‘Ankur’ (character - Etienne), ‘Khowab’ and ‘Brindabner Che’, ‘Bhoot Puran’ etc. . She acted in the major character and Bhojpuri song in ‘Maladak’ and proved her all round ability in theatre. Srimati Brahma is a Junior Artist in the Drama Division of Akashbani Kolkata (Prasar Bharati) and acted in several plays. She was awarded the ‘Shyamal Sen Smriti Samman’ by Swapnasandhani. She was also awarded the ‘Kasturi Samman’ by BPRT.In ‘Chand Banikar Pala’ and ‘Prachya’ joint productions of Swapnasandhani and Gobardanga Shilpayan directed by Koushik Sen,
Dipa Brahma had her in credit as a recipent of ‘Junior Fellowship’ on ‘Moymonsing Geetikar’-Bangladesh, creadited by Ministry of Culture, Government of India. She actively participated performing ‘Theatre Song;’ in ‘Natyaswapnakalpo’, ‘Kolkata Doordarshan’ and ‘Paschimbanga Natya Mela’. She has achived Junior Diploma from Rabindra Bharati University in Rabindra Sangeet and She also got Diploma from Allahabad in Classical Vocal Music. Besides being a promising singer an attached with ‘Lokogan’ (Loke- Band) Srimati Brahma also proved her excellence in charming clay tune folk song in our Country.
At present she is the Chairman of the Gobardanga Shilpayan Natya Vidyalaya where she has also been offered to take the post of an important trainer.



 

Aveek   Bandyopadhyay (Secretary / Actor) :

Born on the 4th. day of July in Kolkata, Aveek Bandyopadhyay has been working and taking active part with “Gobardanga Shilpayan” North 24 Parganas since 1992. During this period apart from being named as a successful stage actor, Sri Bandyopadhyay has proved himself a good organiser with the consequence that he is now the Secretary and important advisor of Gobardanga Shilpayan Theatre Troup. Under the Direction of the Director playwright Sri Ashis Chattopadhyay, Sri Bandyopadhyay has successfully played the key roles in ‘Raja Oedepaus’, ‘Sampriti Bilas’, ‘Maladak’, ‘Swapner Feriwala’, ‘Taraprassanner Kirti’ (character - Taraprassanna), ‘Shylock Uppakhan’ (character - Narisha), ‘Colonel-Ke Keu Chithi Lekhe Na’, ‘Tamas’ character (character - Nathu), ‘Antarjali Yatra’ (character - Sitaram), ‘Satya Shylock’, ‘Ankur’ (character - Hanbo), ‘Khowab’ (character - Mahatma Gandhi), Brindabaner Che and ‘Bhoot Puran’ etc. in almost all the Theatre Halls in West Bengal, Tripura, Assam, Orissa, Bihar, Jharkhand and New Delhi and so on. In ‘Prachya’ a joint production of Swapnasandhani and Gobardanga Shilpayan directed by Koushik Sen, Sri Bandyopadhyay touched the heart of eminent theatre lovers by his charming stage songs and attractive acting. He has been relentlessly working with the promising children in theatre for the last four years. He has directed two Children’s Play ‘Alkatrar Putul’ and ‘Amal O Sudha’. Moreover Sri Bandyopadhyay has also excelled himself in the field of Stage Craft, Make-up of actros and light projection. Aveek Bandyopadhyay is obsessive of taking still-snaps of different productions in his camera.

Shouvik Sarkar (Treasurer / Actor) :

Born in Sptember 1,1976 in North 24 Parganas, Shouvik Saekar, a promising young actor, his acting carrier started in ‘Gobardanga Shilpaya’ drama group in 1985. During this period he came in touch with director Ashis Chattopadhyay of Gobardanga Shilpayan.
Sri Sarkar a successful stage actor, under the Direction of the Director playwright Sri Ashis Chattopadhyay, He has a successfully played the roles in “Raktakarabi”, ‘Marich Sanbad’, ‘Annya Alibaba’, ‘Raja Oedepaus’, ‘Sampriti Bilas’, ‘Maladak’, ‘Swapner Feriwala’, ‘Taraprassanner Kirti’, ‘Shylock Uppakhan’, ‘Colonel-Ke Keu Chithi Lekhe Na’ character - Agustin , ‘Tamas’, ‘Antarjali Yatra’ , ‘Satya Shylock’ character - Shylock, ‘Ankur’ character - Mayodh, ‘Khowab’ character - Pavel, ‘Brindabaner Che’ character - Che and ‘Bhoot Puran’ etc. In ‘Chand Banikar Pala’ and ‘Prachya’ joint productions of Swapnasandhani and Gobardanga Shilpayan directed by Koushik Sen,
•    Niva Arts Samman 2009 for Best Actor for the production 'Khowab'.


 

Sujit Das (Actor) :

Born in April 2, 1963. Sri Sujit Das one of the founder, important and talented actor of Gobardanga Shilpayan, during this period he came in touch with director Ashis Chattopadhyay of Gobardanga Shilpayan. Sri Das has been a leading actor in the major productions like ‘Raktakarabi’, ‘Raja Oedepaus’, ‘Madhab Malanchi Kanya’, ‘Maladak’, ‘Sampriti Bilas’, ‘Swapner Feriwala’, ‘Taraprasanner Kirti’, ‘Colonel -Ke Keu Chithi Lekhe Na’, ‘ Shylock Upakhyan’,‘Tamas’, ‘Antarjali Yatra’ , ‘Satya Shylock’, ‘Ankur’ . ‘Khowab’ and ‘Brindabner Che’ etc.
