Durga Halder, a master degree holder from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, is an upcoming singer who has been serving the world of Rabindra Sangeet for more than a decade.

Groomed in the strictest Rabindra Sangeet traditions under famous singers like Subinoy Roy and other leading singers of the premier Rabindra Sangeet Gharanas, Durga sings with a melodious voice and subtle sensitivity combining rhythmic virtuosity with high level of accuracy . . In her performace, we find a successful blend of tradition and talent, environmental totality as well as breathtaking dynamism. Her strict adherence to the notation and traditional style has created a unique reputation for herself in the music circle. Her singing style with no instrument hands is a unique blend of her melodious voice and style which has become a popular and well accepted phenomenon .

Having her roots in 24 Parganas, Durga has done his master degree in Music( Specialization in Rabindra Sangeet) from Rabindra Bharati University. She has more than 12 years of  reach learning experience under expert guidance of  Shri Subinoy Roy. She had the opportunity of learning under expert guidance of  “Suchitra Mitra , Maya Sen ,  Sumitra Sen ,  Purabi Mukherjee , Aurobindo Biswas etc) during her association with Rabindra Bharati University.

Since her college days at under graduate level , She has been giving solo performence in different kind of public function and earned accolades from many leading personalities and singers. Performed on the same dias with artist like “ Manabendra Mukherjee , Dwijen Mukherjee , Purba Dam , Sumitra Sen , Chinmoy Chatterjee , Indrani Sen and many others) . Directed and staged dance dramas like “ Shyama , Bhanu Shinger Padabali , Chitrangada , Sri Radhar Manbhanjan , Chandalika etc) in which she played the lead singer role also.

She has performed in many Government Sponsored programmes , Private and public functions. She is a regular performing artist in an around Kolkata and Entire West Bengal. She has already performed in Delhi , Nagpur, Pune etc.

In addition to giving solo recitals, Durga has slowly ventured into the field of literature since last 12 years. Started with writing poetry  in small magazines , over the years Durga has become a known name in the literary circle of  Kolkata . An active member of numerous little magazine publishing , she has become a critic of literary works. She has in her credit publication of two poetry books containing her poems. Some more are on the pipe line for publication . An active member of the Book Fair , World poetry festival etc.
