INTRODUCTION
In our Plant at Korba, Chhattisgarh,
India, Vanadium Pentoxide Catalyst is produced for conversion of
Sulphur Dioxide to Sulphur Trioxide in Sulphuric Acid Plant along
with Vanadium Oxides for use in production of Ferro-Vanadium. The
Plant installed is designed based on latest technology backed by
Experts having long experience in development and production of
Industrial Catalysts including Sulphuric Acid Catalyst. The Plant
is equipped with all necessary process control equipment for rigid
quality control so that materials of consistent quality are produced.
SULPHURIC ACID MANUFACTURING PROCESS
Sulphuric Acid is manufactured predominantly by
burning elemental sulphur in presence of air to produce Sulphur
Dioxide Sulphur Dioxide, thus formed is converted to Sulphur Trioxide
in presence of promoted Vanadium Pentoxide Catalyst, at a moderately
high temperature.
This conversion reaction is exothermic and to arrest
excessive temperature rise, number of catalyst beds are employed
with intermediate cooling of gases.
Reaction conditions are different in different
catalyst beds and Catalyst Manufacturer's aim is to produce Catalyst
to suit conditions prevailing in each bed. Our main concern is to
produce highly active robust Catalyst with stable activity for a
longer period of time and lowest pressure drop.
Semi-converted gas from the 3rd bed of the Converter,
rich in SO3 content, is stripped off its SO3 in an Intermediate
Absorption Tower. Absorber outlet gas with low SO3 partial pressure
is taken to the 4th bed of the Converter for maximum conversion
of SO2 to SO3. The gas is finally absorbed in a Final Absorption
Tower. |
