PRE-CONVENTION SEMINAR
Name of this hall is K P Basu Memorial Hall.

This is a seminar meant for experience sharing and is in line with those conducted at ICQCC. It will be held before the inauguration of NCQC-2007, from 09-30 a.m. to 01-00 p.m. on 27th December 2007.

It is meant for Executives :

  • i) Who are interested in introducing and institutionalizing the Quality Circles and other Quality Concepts in their organisation.
  • ii) Who are already involved with these activities in their organisations and need certain guidance, clarifications and inputs for effective and result oriented implementation.

Normaly, we arrange 4 or 5 lectures by Senior Executives from organisations that have successfully implemented various Quality Concepts including Quality Circles. This year, only two or three eminent persons will be invited for experience sharing. The participation is limited to 200 participants, on first come first serve basis.

INAUGURATION
This will be held at the Open Air Theatre, covered with pandal. Chapter awards and awards for organizations will be given during the inaugural ceremony.

CULTURAL PROGRAMME AND WELCOME DINNER
A cultural programme by Ms. Jojo (Mou Mukherjee) – JOJO “N” Her Sound is organized. They are well known in Kolkata and West Bengal. Due to paucity of time, we cannot accommodate any of our members to perform during this programme. However, we have arranged a skit contest for Quality Circle members to show their talent. A welcome dinner will follow the inaugural session.

When the Quality Circles pay their participation fees, they are intimated the name of the hall in which they have to make their presentation and the date and time. Quality Circle members are requested to check up the location of their presentation hall much in advance.

Each hall will have a judge and also an observer from industry. The case studies are evaluated in advance and the job of the judge in the hall is to judge and evaluate the presentation.

 
CONVENTION EVALUATION SYSTEM
 
Quality Circles are given marks as follows :
a.
Maintenance of Register 20 marks
b. Pre-Evaluation of the Case Study 100 marks
c. Knowledge Test 20 marks
d. Evaluation at the time of Presentation -
Oral /visual

KNOWLEDGE TEST
It is compulsory for all participating quality Circles as twenty marks of the total score is allotted for this test.

Knowledge test will be held in a separate hall. Every Quality Circle is given a coupon with the Quality Circle name written in that. All Quality Circles will be given time of test and the test will be for a period of fifteen minutes. Questions will be simple and straightforward. No negative marks will be given for wrong answers. Reference book is QCFI’s“Quality Circle – Concept and Implementation and Problem Solving Techniques.” Quality Circles will be permitted to refer to thse books and their facilitator can be with them.

All QCs should strictly adhere to the test timing and no copying from another Quality Circle is permitted.

QUIZ CONTEST
This is the regular 3 stage test conducted every year. Those who are interested in participating in this can collect the question paper in the counter kept separately for this at the time of registration. The best 30 circles will be allowed to participate in Quiz contest Second Stage. In case of tie, more Circles will be considered. So, Quality Circle members need not stand early morning in the queue to submit them. But answer papers should be submitted before 10-00 a.m. on 28th December 2007 and anything brought after 10-00 a.m. for submission will not be accepted.

Quiz Contest Stage - II
As mentioned the best 30 circles will be allowed to participate in Quiz contest second stage between 10-00 hrs – 11-00 hrs.

Quiz Contest Final Stage
Best three circles will be selected from the second stage of Quiz contest. Only three members each, from the selected teams, can participate in live quiz.

SKIT CONTEST
We are arranging a skit contest programme by Quality Circle members. A model skit is presented in April-June 2007 journal (QCFI, Secunderabad) in Hindi. QCs who are interested are requested to send their skit before 15th November 2007. No skit should be for more than 15 minutes. A maximum of eight skits will be presented. Skits will be evaluated and good ones will be awarded. Skits are preferred in Hindi or English.

ESSAY CONTEST
QC members are requested to send an essay, on the ‘Theme of the Convention’ either in English or in Hindi. The essay should not exceed 600 words. The essay adjudged as best will be given an award of Rs.10,000/-, the second best Rs.5,000/- and third Rs.3,000/-. Last date for submission of the Essays will be 31st October 2007 and they should be sent to Executive Director at QCFI, Headquarters. All three award winners will be allowed to participate in NCQC 2007 as our guest, but travel and stay expenses will have to be borne by them.

POSTER CONTEST
Topic for the competition is the Convention Theme. Posters must be in A2 size sheet (420 mm x 594 mm). The participants should send a photocopy of the poster to the Head Quarters on or before 15th November 2007. The best posters selected by our evaluators will be intimated so that the organization can send him to NCQC 2007 for participation. Participants should bring the posters for display and then on 29th evening should hand it over in good condition. The judges will once again evaluate them in the convention. Best five posters will be given cash award besides memento and certificate.

POEMS AND SLOGANS CONTEST
The poems/slogans on the convention theme, in English or Hindi, should reach QCFI Head Quarters before 31st October 2007. Award winners will be intimated before 15th November 2007. Award winners will be intimated before 15th November 2007 so that they can be sent for participation in the convention by their organization. The judges will once again evaluate them in the convention. There is no cash award for poems and slogans contest winners.

INDUSTRIAL TOUR
We are organizing on 30th December 2007, an Industrial tour in the afternoon to the nearby organizations that are practicing different Quality Concepts. Since, it is Sunday, we have to find out the industries operating on that day. So, names will be given subsequently.

SIGHT SEEING
We are organizing tours for sight-seeing also and information on that can be seen in the final announcement together with the details of tour places.
