On debut: I never thought of becoming an actor. While completing my MBA in 1987, a friend took me to Amal Sarkar who was doing the serial Halka Hashi Chokher Jal. For this serial I picked up driving in seven days.
Final decision: After this I got offers in serials like Probaho and Jeebon Jerokom. But I still wasn't sure if I wanted to become an actor I was applying for PhD abroad. I got a scholarship From University of Florida.The day my 1-20 form reached suddenly I made up my mind. I decided to stay here trying my luck in acting.
First major break: I had done group theatre with Granthik and was in a few serials also but I feel my first major break came in 1990 when Jochhon Dostidar cast me as Sribilas in the tele-serial Choturanga.
On theatre: I did hardcore commercial theatre from 1990 to 1994 and didn't do any serials. But I have no regrets. Theatre has given me so much. Now, when I even pass by Bijon Theatre my eyes turn moist.
