                | Step
: 1 An incision is made just above the
                  cornea. |

                | Step
: 2 The surgeon penetrates the eye through
the incision and removes or peels off the front portion of the
                  cataracted lens. |

                | Step
: 3 The whole cataract is then removed. |

                | Step:
4 The rermning capsule or the bag is cleaned |

                | Step:
5 An IOL (Intra Ocular tens) is implanted
                  inside the bag. |

                | Step:
6 The incision is then closed with very
                  fine sutures. |

          | PHACOEMULSIFICATION
            CATARACT SURGERY- without sutures |

          A
phaco machine with a probe is used for cataract extraction and IOL
implantation . This is a Sutureless surgical procedure.

              - STEP: 1 The probe
is used to puncture a hole on the white portion of the eye (Sclera),
just above the cornea., or in the cornea.

              - STEP :2 The phaco
probe is then used by the surgeon to reach the front portion of
                the cataracted lens

              - STEP: 3 A circular
tear is made on the front portion of the cataracted lens.

              - STEP :4 With
another ultrasonic hollow probe, the cataract is broken into tiny
fragments, which are then sucked out of the bag .

              - STEP : 5 The
remaining capsule or bag is then cleaned and a sterile foldable
lens is inserted through the hollow probe into the capsule, thus
replacing the cataract with a crystal clear lens.

              - STEP : 6 Finally
the probe is withdrawn and the puncture on the white portion of
                the eye seals itself automatically.

          | COLD PHACO |

          | All
the steps in this procedure are the same as in phaco emulsification
surgery . Here, A cold phaco machine with a probe, which produces
minimum heat, is used. The chances of corneal damage are considerably
            less. |

          | PHACO WITH RIGID LENS |

          All
the steps in this procedure are the same except that instead of
a foldable lens, a rigid lens is inserted into the lens capsule
              through the hollow probe.

              ADVANTAGES OF PHACO

              - Early rehabilitation .

              - Less cylindrical power with glasses.

              - Eye remains safe even in case of minor accidental
                post operative trauma.

              CONTRA-INDICATIONS OF PHACO

              - Poor corneal health.

              - Very big and hard Cataract.

              - Cataract displaced from its original position
                .

              - The eye having any other pathology.
