Rituparna Sengupta, the reigning queen of
tollywood, i.e. Bengal Film Industry, had
started her career from 1994, with her first
film SWET PATHARER THALA, directed by the most eminent director
of Tollywood, Prabhat Roy, where she played the teenage
lead and eventually that year the film got National Award in the
category of the best bengali film. After that there was no looking
back. She became the undisputed heroine or queen of tollygunge
industry i.e. The Bengaal Film Industry.
She becamefamous in all the commercial flicks
as "Moner Manush", "Sansar Sangram", "Swami
Keno Asami", "Sudhu Akbar Bolo", "Sindur Khela",
"Sasurbari Jindabad", "Jamaibabu Jindabad",
"Manush Amanush", "Alo" etc. and lot
others. She is a eighty films old. She was worked with directors
like Prabhat Roy, Biresh Chatterjee, swapan Saha, Haranath Chakraborty,
Sanat Dutta, Sujit Guha, Chiranjit Chakraborty - and other big
directors....
Her career in parallel cinema started little later and then she
was first given a break by Rituparno Ghosh, in the film "DAHAN"
where she plays a transmatised housewife. Her performance immensely
spoke about her acting talent, which actually got her the best
reward in the film industry i.e. The National Award for the best
actress in "DAHAN". Henceforth she worked with
Rituparno Ghosh, Buddhadeb Dasgupta, Aparna Sen, Sandip Ray, Raja
Sen, Tarun Majumder, Ashok Viswanathan and others..
