CHEMICALS & ENGINEERING CORPORATION, the flagship company of the group was established in 1957 in Kolkata, West Bengal by Mr. S. N. Basu, a legend in pre-paint treatment, electroplating and heat-treatment chemicals for metal finishing at a time, when these chemicals used to be imported by the large engineering industries. After three decades, in the year 1987, his son Mr. R. K. Basu expanded the business by establishing another flagship unit as MECHELEC ENGINEERING CORPORATION, which also started manufacturing of wire drawing chemicals and lubricants, refractory binder, acid degreaser for galvanizing unit, acid inhibitor, fume suppressor for pickling plant and also started manufacturing plants and machineries for all these operations on turnkey basis.

In the year 2005, another unit as BASU UDYOG was established in Urla, Raipur, Chattishgarh, for production of Zinc metal, Zinc Chloride, Zinc Sulphate etc. and also manufacturing of Hot and Cold dip galvanizing plants.

The products manufactured by the group reach almost all the segments of the Indian Engineering Industry such as Bicycle, Automobile, Wire drawing, Wire galvanizing, G.I. Sheet manufacturing, Railway Coach and wagon manufacturing, Other railway products, Defence products, Rolling mills, Tube manufacturing units, CRM plants etc.

The wealth of experience accumulated over the years has helped the Group to maintain its outstanding position in the field of metal finishing chemical and chemical plants. Determination to move forward in the face of odds, optimistic outlook and never sagging urge to improve on the performance year to year, have been a combining factor in achieving the status that the group is enjoying today.

Our diversified venture in Raipur named BASU UDYOG has already started with the production of Barbed wire and Binding wire in the engineering division. The chemical division is on the verge of starting the production of Zinc metal, Zinc chloride, fluxes and other metal finishing chemicals.

This year i.e. 2010 is targeted as our promotional and achievement year. All our new and productive ventures would start producing and give results.
