Termites are social insects that live in underground colonies. Each colony consists of three castes: reproductive, workers and soldiers. Each caste passes through three stages – egg, nymph and adult. They feed no wood. When they do not find sufficient quantities of food in the ground, they emerge into the house through any part of the wooden structure, which is in contact with the ground. They construct tubes out of mud in order to reach the wood without exposing themselves. These insects are voracious eaters and do not stop eating until they are exterminated.
