Shri Debendramohan Basu

Notable work was also done by Jagdishchandra’s nephew Debendramohan Basu (1885-1975), the first Ghosh Professor of Physics and later Director of the Bose Institute. He installed Calcutta’s first Wilson cloud chamber (an inparticles) and initiated work on the measurement of particle masses using nuclear emulsion techniques. He also made an important contribution to the knowledge of paramagnetic properties of compound of the transitional group of elements. |
