Rotary is a service oriented organization. All members of the club should look forward to propagating community affairs through club affairs.  This needs to be done by following the basic tenets of principles of personnel management which should also be anchored to their roots in Indian culture. A sapling grows into a Banyan tree only when it is watered by its own roots which are strong and firm. Therefore, a deep sense of rootedness is the vital force of the club.

We, while remaining grateful to the ideals of Mr. Paul P. Harris, and his three companions to whom Rotary owes its genesis,  should also keep in mind that the foundational theme of Rotary (Service above Self) is not a new concept for India. Rather, it a mere reassertion of the age-old indigenous tradition of: Srinvantu Viswe Amritasya Putrah…(Thou art children of Immortality)

  • Tenatyaktena bhunjita magridha kashyasidhadhanam…(enjoy life through renunciation )
  • Yenaham namrita syam kimaham tena kuryam…(Will all … material wealth give me Immortality?)
  • Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the whole world is a kin of mine)

These have been echoed and reechoed in Bharatvarsha from times immemorial. Our country has always preached the sustainability of all civilizations:

Om Purnamadah Purnamidam Purnat Purnamadacyate

Purnasya Purnadaya Purnamevavasisyate (This world is a phenomenal world and a manifestation of The Infinite. So , even if anything is taken away from it , it remains Infinite as before)

And never has it been the preacher of unfair competition and mere war for sake of war. We are the protégé of such leaders like Sri Ram Chandra, Gautama Buddha, Mahavira, Guru Nanak, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Mahatma Gandhi , Swami Vivekananda et.al.,  all of whom committed renunciation .  Therefore, we pledge to become, True-Bharatiya Rotarians. Tyaga in the true sense of the term is the guiding force of the club where all the members strive to offer a sacred harmony even while remaining committed professionals themselves in their respective domains.
