Kausik Bandopadhyay was born in 1956 at Shibpur (West Bengal), India; he obtained both his Bachelor Degree and Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from Bengal Engineering College, Shibpur under University of Calcutta, then got his diploma in Operation Management from IGNOU. His area of interest varies from Technology & Popular Science to Chinese Folk songs. He is presently associated with some major Road and Bridge Projects as Engineer in Public Works Department Government of West Bengal and was attached with B.E.College (Deemed University) as Guest Faculty. He is life member of Institution of Engineers as well as Indian Roads Congress. His association with "Vigyan-O-Vigyankarmi" (mouthpiece of Scientific Workers Forum) as well as Human Rights movement for around two decades contributed towards an unique flavour in his poems.

He has several Technical Publications in National & International journal to his credit and was instrumental In publishing “Highway Bridges in West Bengal Vol. III” – a prestigious Government Publication on Bridges & major Highway Projects.
