Kausik
Bandopadhyay was born in 1956 at Shibpur (West Bengal), India;
he obtained both his Bachelor Degree and Masters Degree in
Civil Engineering from Bengal Engineering College, Shibpur
under University of Calcutta, then got his diploma in Operation
Management from IGNOU. His area of interest varies from Technology
& Popular Science to Chinese Folk songs. He is presently
associated with some major Road and Bridge Projects as Engineer
in Public Works Department Government of West Bengal and was
attached with B.E.College (Deemed University) as Guest Faculty.
He is life member of Institution of Engineers as well as Indian
Roads Congress. His association with "Vigyan-O-Vigyankarmi"
(mouthpiece of Scientific Workers Forum) as well as Human
Rights movement for around two decades contributed towards
an unique flavour in his poems. He is a music - lover &
instrumentalist.
His poems recited in his own voice in the Poetry Collection
“Kabikantha Kobita” in CD format has been released
by SOUHARDA in 2008. He was instrumental in publishing the
prestigious souvenir commemorating the international event, “69th Indian Roads Congress”, Kolkata hosted by
Govt. of West Bengal.
He has
been honoured with a medal by the little magazine, ‘Atandrapath’
in 2009 for his literary translation.
He
has several Technical Publications in National & International
journal to his credit and was instrumental In publishing “Highway
Bridges in West Bengal Vol. III” – a prestigious
Government Publication on Bridges & major Highway Projects.
He
is also associated with many literary & scientific journals,
cultural societies and translated form Ancient Chinese Lyrics
as well as Sigmund Freud’s Lectures on Psychiatry in Bengali.
He
has contributed essays, short stories and poems in various leading
journals like “Probasi Anandabazar”, “Anustup”, “Pratikshan” etc. "Akhil Bhartiya Bhasha Sahitya
Sammelan" has honoured him recently with the literary title
"Samanwayshree" in 2008 whose state unit has him as
a torch-bearer since 1991.
Presently, he is the member of The Editorial Board of "Purto Katha", the official journal of P.W.D., Govt. of West Bengal.
He has been enlisted in the "Who is Who of Indian Writers" published by Sahitya Academy.
In 2010 acted as Guest Lecturer in BESU, Shibpur.
He has been felicitated in 2011 by” Howrah Writers’ Association”, a trilingual literary platform for his contribution to Bengali literature.
