In
the 15th Century Bengal, around the lifetime of Shri
Chaitanyadeva, NABADWIP, a place in the Nadia district
of West Bengal, was a famous spot of academic interactions
and activities. It was reckoned as the OXFORD of undivided
Bengal in that period. The spirit of education was
vibrant. The medium was SANSKRIT.
Very recently a few educational policy-makers of
West Bengal lifted support from SANSKRIT and the most
scientific classical language of the world began to
be missed by the student community of West Bengal.
PURBACHAL SANSKRITA PRACHAR PARISHAD was bom in 1996
during this critical period.
The avowed target of
the PARISAD was to revive SANSKRIT and to popularise
it among the masses. Shree Ramesh Bhattacharyya, a
well known educationist, took the initiative to establish
the PARISAD with active support from eminent personalities
and educationists like Shri Tarun Dutta, Ex-Chief
Secretary to the Govt. of West Bengal, Justice Ajit
Nayak of Calcutta High Court, Pandit Satyapada Bhattacharyya
of Calcutta Govt. Sanskrit College, Dr. Dilip Kanjilal,
Ex-D.P.L, Govt. of West Bengal, Dr. Sitanath Goswami
of Jadavpur University, Prof. Himangshu Smrititirtha,
Prof. Jagadish Tarkatirtha, Prof. Sri Mohan Tarka-Vedantatirtha,

Anadamaya Bhattacharya, Pt. Murari Moh Vedantaditirtha,
