The Association of Engineers India, the first as well as the oldest Professional Body for Engineers and Technologists in the country was founded by a group of committed engineers in the year 1919 almost during the peak period of the British Raj to strengthen the cause of the profession and fraternity and to foster and sustain professionalism and ethics among the Indian Engineers and Technical in particular and the fraternity in general. From the very inception the Association has been propagating engineering and technological education among the weaker sections of the society and to train personnel in various disciplines & trades at various levels besides publishing journals, books, manuals, etc. Since the past few decades particularly after the Independence of the country in 1947, the Association has expanded its activities and been organizing regularly Training Programmes Conferences, Workshops, etc both at local, regional and national levels besides conducting various Courses and Tailor made Training Programmes on both short as well as long term basis and providing Consultancy Services in different Technical Education, Industry, Management Finance, Recruitment etc. The post - Diploma Course in Safety Engineering and the STVT Programme like Construction Supervisor, Amin Surveyor have also been going on for quite some time. All these Courses and Programmes are affiliated to the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education. Over and above the Association is very much concerned about its obligation and commitment to the society and for that matter the greater cause of the Profession, which is presently undergoing through transitory phases and rapid changes.
