Some of our major areas of activity in the recent past are as follows :
The Angel atop the Victoria Memorial Hall

1984 VMH approached Jadavpur University for enlivening the Angel.
1985 Angel revitalized under guidance of the undersigned; work force supplied by Jessop; time taken about 4/5 months.
June 1998* Letter from AST regarding AMC for the Angel with a third party.(Not recommended by the undersigned)
March 1999* Another letter from ASI regarding AMC (Declined to recommend).
April 1999* ASI alongwith VMH representative met me at the University. I was informed that the Angel had stilled.
My reaction
Earthing system tampred with. Earthing Copper strip stolen-FIR lodged by VMH subsequently. Instructed to follow the revitalization steps as in 1985.
April 1999 Wrote to VMH
September 2001 VMH contacted me
August 2003 VMH contacted me with Jessop's quotation.
February 2004 Jessop requoted.
March 2004 :Order given.
April 19, 2004 Work started
October 2004 Shri A. K. Aich inducted to supervise the job on the spot.
November 2004
ASI requested to open a few stone pieces from below the Kalash SI disagreed on the plea that it would destabilize the dome. Jt meeting convened twice for across-the-table discussion. ASI abstained from both Letter given stating that ASI's apprehension was misplaced. Access to the top bearing housing felt essential.
January 15, 2005 Revitalization work suspended till access to top bearing housing be arranged.
September 9, 2005
Another Jt meeting was called ASI representative Engineer attended No discussion about the stability problem Decided to temporarily remove two stone pieces in 1st week/ 2nd week of December 2005.
March 1, 2006 Work done (i.e after a lapse of 1 year and 4/5 months)
April 1, 2006 The Angel started rotating on and from the date.
April 2, 2006 Cleaning of the iron-powder in praticular from the top bearing housing and fitting the missing fasteners.
May 6, 2006 Maintenance arrangement done.
May 8, 2006
Cleaning of the structure on which the Angel is supported & its painting. Dome-inside ceiling damaged portion stripped off and replastered by ASI, lime washing not done.
May 31, 2006 Two stone pieces reset and pointing done by ASI/2nd Earthing work by CPWD started.
June 5, 2006 2nd Earthing work continued.
June 9, 2006 Lime washing of replastered areas by ASI
June 12, 2006 Fitting of S. S. Screen to prevent nesting of birds.
June 17, 2006 Top bearing housing oil changed after flushing with pressurized diesel.
June 23, 2006 Bottom bearing housing oil changed.
June 28, 2006 Top bearing housing oil changed after flushing with pressurized diesel.
July 1, 2006 Top housing bottom gland cleaning & changing of bottom housing lubricant.
July 6, 2006 Handed over to VMH authority
