Sanghamitra
Chakrabarti has a family history of music and poetry. Her
father late Dr. Sibapada Chakraborty, a student of famous music
school “Geetabitan”, was an accomplished musician and
author of books of poems in Bengali language. Sanghamitra was introduced to music at a very early age under the guidance of her father and developed special interest to Rabindrasangeet. She perused her studies in music along with her academic ambitions. She successfully completed five years course in Rabindrasangeet from “Suradhuni” which was affiliated to Rabindra Bharati University and then completed M.A. (Rabindrasangeet) of Rabindra Bharati University securing first class . She is still pursuing her learning of the finer aspects of Rabindrasangeet from famous and legendary singer and guru Rajeswar Bhattacharya. She has been performing Rabindrasangeet in stage for many years and has the distinction of performing in almost all major events in and around Kolkata. She has also performed in USA, UK, Canada, Qatar and Bangladesh.. She has a very regular appearance in almost all Bengali Satellite and Cable TV Channels e.g., Doordarshan Kolkata, Z-Bangla, Tara music, Akash, CTVN (Plus), ATN World, 24 Ghanta, Ne-Bangla, Channel Vision, Amar Channel etc. She has published several music albums in Rabindrasangeet and Modern Songs, which received acclaim from music lovers, critics and the media. Sanghamitra has shown great ability and talent in writing and composing modern Bengali songs. Famous singers like Srikanta Acharya, Susmita Goswami etc recorded songs written and composed by Sanghamitra and with the accompanying music directed by Late V. Balsara. |
