Shib
Nath De provides a unique introduction to authentic ancient
Indian yoga practices. In the United States, various health
clubs teach yoga as a low impact technique of physical fitness.
However, the traditional practice of yoga is a very personalized
one that is tailored to the health needs of a particular
individual. Yoga has incredible healing power for both physical
and mental suffering. Here is a partial list of the health
conditions that can be successfully treated by yoga:
Arthritis,
spondylosis, frozen shoulder, sciatica, gout, asthma, piles,
depression, hypertension, insomnia, multiple heart blockages,
diabetes, migraine headaches and stress.
Mr.
De was the therapist of the honorable Mr. V. P. Singh, the
ex-Prime Minister of India. He also helped a number of Indian
parliamentarians and Supreme Court judges ease their pain
and suffering. Shib Nath De's father, kriya yogi Bolin De,
tutored him in the essence of yoga from his childhood. He
began his formal study and practice of the discipline at
age 18 under the great master Yogi Guru Buddha Bose, who
founded the Yoga Cure Institute in Calcutta in 1937. At
present, Mr. De is the head of the two leading Yoga institutions
in Calcutta, with about 175 clients who are referred by
the top physicians in the city.
On
his visits to the United States, Mr. De begins with a lecture
followed by group demonstration of relaxation, meditative
breathing and pure meditation. He gives a talk on the values
of life, centering on the concepts of health, tranquility
and the integration of body, mind and soul. At the end of
the talk there is a question and answer session and a chance
to learn more from him about incorporating yoga into a busy
life.
Or,
For those who are interested, Mr. De will arrange a series
of one-on-one yoga sessions so that individuals can develop
a private yoga practice specifically designed to their needs.
Because Mr. De regularly returns to the United States, yoga
routines can be modified every six months, thereby ensuring
a continually evolving practice.
