Rama
Prosad Chattopadhyay started his dance career under the
guidance of Smt. Sushmita Mishra, wife of Pd. Ramgopal Mishra
of Jaipur Gharana, he later studied under the guidance of
Pd. Vijai Shankar and Padma Vibhushan Pd. Birju Maharaj.
He was awarded a National Scholarship in the year 1988-89
under the guidance of Pd. Birju Maharaj, New Delhi from
Human Resource and Development Corporation. Presently he
is dancing in Maharaji's group choreographies.
Rama Prosad Chattopadhyay qualified in Kathak dance and
is holding a MA in dance, Nritya Bhaskar from Pracheen Kala
Kendra, Chandigarh (he stood first and was awarded a Gold
Medal) and Nritya Prabhakar from Pragya Sangeet Samiti,
Allahabad.
He stood first in All India Dance Competition organized
by Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad and awarded a Gold Medal
and in 1999 Singer Moni by Sur Singer Samsad Bombay.
He is a general artist of Kolkata Doordashan Kendra.In 1998
he founded his own Kathak Institution, the Sudha Art Center
in Kolkatta.

Prosad Chattopadhyay has performed to enthralled audiences
all over India as well as in Germany and Bangladesh and
participated in many prestigious festivals like Kalka Bindadin
Mahotsav (New Delhi), Basant Utsab (New Delhi), Lakshman
Mela (Lucknow), Asia 82 for New Delhi and West Bengal (New
Delhi), Uday Shankar Festival inaugurated by Prime Minister
Mrs. Indira Gandhi (New Delhi), Konarak Festival (Konarak).
