Rames Purakayastha, a renowned professor of Economics, is an outstanding poet of modern Bengali literature. "Jallader chhurir moto amogh tanr shabdamala", -- says the Anandabazar Patrika, the largest Bengali newspaper. And the Ganashakti, the peoples' daily of West Bengal adores:- "Bishaye shabde-chhande sabyasachi ai Kabike abhinandan".

The poet has so far published more than fifteen books, of which eight are on poetry. The most famous are: Amra Arjun; Pritha Amar Prithibi; Roddoorjatak; Burimar Hansguli and Aiffel Tower Theke, where the poet joins the long march of humanity and stands by the common people in their toils and tears, sorrows and sufferings and their drudgery and dreams cherished.

KANKANE NIRET RODE---- a romantic reflection of his twenty-two years of conjugal life, written after the sad demise of Chhuti, his beloved wife, who died of cancer ca cologne is unique in the history of Bengali Literature. The unique and the unparallel artistry of his prose transforms a matter of personal agony into a theme of universal sorrow that penetrates deep into the hearts not only of common people but also of the great critique and man of literature like Dr. Debiprasad Bandyopadhyay, Dr. Jyotirmoy Ghosh, Abul Bashar, Basudev Deb, Dr. Pabitra Sarkar and others.

"He Tushar Nirupam" is another landmark-"a novel contribution in Bengali travel-literature" (Shanku Maharaj), where the readers enjoy the celestial beauty of the snow-clad Himalayas through the eyes of the poet standing at a hight of more than sixteen thousand feet. Yes, Rames Purakayastha is perhaps the only Bengali Poet who traverses these white wonders.

And in the next book-fair "Europer Galpa" and a tri-lingual collection of poetry: "Rattrir Hriday Jure" - in the Heart of Night - "Au Coeur De La Nuit" await you.

For all these charms why not contact the author himself ???
