Sruti
Performing Troupe presents different experimental theatrical
performances. In this troupe trained dancers perform with quality
and standard. This platform organizes workshops, seminars and
performances regularly to promote the rich cultural heritage
of our country.
On
the occasion of 138th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore,
the troupe produced the dance theatre bajao re mohana banshi,
(Play your enchanting flute) where we tried to portray that
in Tagore's world of thought, the banshi and its melody, though
maintaining the world of reality, help us reach another level
of aesthetic awareness. Artistic director successfully choreographed
to present a daily life of human being and search of eternal
freedom on the song collection.
It was highly acclaimed by the press and public. It was telecast
by Indian Television in the National Program of Dance and Music
as a tribute to Tagore on the eve of his birth anniversary 2000.This
production was selected for the cultural events during soccer
World Cup at South Korea 2002.
Inspired
by the achievement of bajao re mohana banshi we came up with
another production Offerings, which is a theatre dance
version of Tagore's Gitanjali. This bilingual multidimensional
stage production was premiered at New Delhi in May 2000. After
that it was performed in a number of national and international
gatherings, where it was acclaimed as a 'land marking' experimental
production on Tagore's thoughts and writings. It was performed
at the inaugural ceremony of the International Theatre Festival
at Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2001.On
the way of experiment with Tagore's work and subsequent achievements
nationally and internationally, a production based on Tagore's
writings on the philosophy of lights has been conceived. The
dance theatre AlO, is a creation of multi imagination
of artists of our times.
Bhaktirasasudhasara
(Production Based on Classical Manipuri Dance)
In
Indian aesthetics there are nine rasas recognised by the cognoscenti.
But in Vaishnava tradition of Eastern India, only five rasas Shanta,
Dasya, Sakhya, Vatsalya and Madhura are accepted by the Chaitanite
Vaishnava authority. All these rasas they say are variations of
one single rasa, which is based on love. In Bhaktirasasudhasara,
this theme will be presented on traditional Manipuri dance diction.
This production was telecast in the National Program of Dance
& Music by Doordarshan.
