| AWARDS |
| During
these period ANEEK has the rare distinction
of receiving: |
- STATE
DRAMA ACADEMY AWARD - 4 times
- SUNDARAM
AWARD
- DISHARI
AWARD
- LEBEDEV
AWARD (USSR)
- NURUN
NAHAR SAMAD NATYA PADAK (BANGLADESH)
|
|
| Most
notable feature is that ANEEK has received
the STATE ACADEMY AWARD for 4 times and
in all the major disciplines of Theatre,
like BEST DRAMATIST, BEST STAGE CRAFT, BEST
DIRECTOR, BEST ACTOR.
Possibly no other Theatre Group from Kolkata
has the distinction of receiving the STATE
ACADEMY AWARD in all the major disciplines
of Theatre.
ANEEK is the only group from Kolkata
possibly
from the whole of the country to be awarded
by Foreign Countries for excellence in production
and for developing human values & understanding:
i) LEBEDEV AWARD - From the cultural Deptt.
of USSR in 1990.
ii) NURUN NAHAR SAMAD NATYA PADAK - From
Bangladesh in 1999. |

INSTITUTE OF THEATRE EDUCATION |
| PERSPECTIVES
& OBJECTIVES: |
It
is known to all that Bengali Theatre is
a matter of pride in the socio-cultural
life of Bengal. Theatre workers are engaged
in experimenting and developing theatre
allthrough right from the days of
Labedev. Galaxy of Theatre personalities have enriched
the Bengali Theatre for the last two hundred
and odd years. Bengali Theatre has a glorious
tradition of social commitment and has
developed through relentless struggle
in the prevailing socio-political context.
Of late, attempts are being made in a
concerted and calculated way to throttle
the National and Regional Cultures from
development. Decadent culture is being
propagated and spread throughout the country
in a very systematic way through different
media and fora. Terrorism, seperatism,
parochialism, communalism, casteism are
being encouraged to disintegrate the basic
fabric of our society and culture. Youth
are being alienated from the mainstream
of the society and vested individual interest
has become the keyword.
We strongly believe that theatre can be
and is an effective weapon to combat these
evils. At the moment, in West Bengal,
there are more then three thousand Theatre
groups and more than one lac youth are
engaged in Theatre-work. But unfortunately,
there is no Institute of Theatre
in Kolkata which can impart scientific
education on Theatre. Hence, the formation
of ANEEK INSTITUTE OF THEATRE
EDUCATION.
The objectives of the INSTITUTE
are:
-
To cover up the need and aspiration
of a vast number of Theatre workers
who are keen to learn the dramatics.
- To
develop the essentially intangible concept
of creative imagination and its expression
within the framework of the group.
- To
prepare theatre-workers for practice of
the Art of theatre.

with its objectives. |
