who has received invitation from Bangladesh
in successive Years (1999 & 2000) to participate
in the INTERNATIONAL THEATRE FESTIVALS held
at DHAKA, JESSORE, TANGAIL & CHITTAGONG. |
| FESTIVALS |
To
organise Theatre Festival is a part of regular
and continuous activity of ANEEK. It helps
to co-ordinate and establish common bondage
with other Theatre groups.
From 1990 to 1994 ANEEK organised
Festival with its own plays. From 1995 the
arena has widened. ANEEK has started
inviting Theatre Groups from West Bengal. From
1998 the arena has further widened and ANEEK
has started an International Theatre Festival titled:
"GANGA JAMUNA NATYA UTSAB".

The Ganga Jamuna Natya Utsab
is being organised simultaneously at Kolkata
and at Suburban Towns like Barrackpore,
Sonarpur, Mahestala, Halisahar etc. In
2005 it has been organised at Madhyamgram
along with Kolkata.
In the 2nd Ganga Jamuna Natya
Utsab,
apart from Theatre Groups of West Bengal
and Bangladesh a Theatre
Group from AMERICA also
participated.
In the 3rd Ganga Jamuna Natya Utsab
apart from Theatre Groups from West
Bengal and Bangladesh, theatre groups from
Maharastra, Chhatisgar, Jharkhand and
Tripura also participated.
In the 4th Ganga Jamuna Natya Utsab
apart from Theatre Groups from Kolkata &
Districts of West Bengal three Theatre
Groups from Bangladesh participated.
In the 5th Ganga Jamuna Natya Utsab
Theatre Groups from Hyderabad & Bhopal
participated in the Festival besides
theatre groups from Bangladesh.
In the 6th Ganga Jamuna Natya Utsab a
Theatre Group from Nagpur has
participated alongwith three theatre groups
from Bangladesh.
In the 7th Ganga Jamuna Natya Utsab
Theatre Groups fro Delhi, Mumbai &
Agartala (Tripura) participated
alongwith three Theatre Groups from
Bangladesh.
In the 8th Ganga Jamuna Natya Utsab
Theatre Groups from Delhi & Assam
have participated alongwith one Group from
Bangladesh and one Group from
Nepal.
It is needless to say that the Festival
has evoked wide response from Press (both
electronic & print media) & Public
and achieved great success. Never before,
an International Festival of such magnitude
has taken place in KOLKATA and the Festival
has come to be recognised as one of importance
in the cultural events of West Bengal and
has occupied its pride place in the Cultural
Calendar of the State.
To encourage and inspire the students as a
first step, as a part of the Festival,
we have for the last two years has organised state level competition in all
the levels of Educational Institutions like,
Inter-School, Inter-College, Inter-University.
The response was overwhelming and it led
us to believe that if the students &
youths are properly guided they will come
out effectively to protect the interest
of the SOCIETY & THE NATION.
From 2005 it will be extended throughout
the State by organising competition initially
from the district level culminating in the
State Level Competition. It will undoubtedly
give a new dimension to the Festival.
