Tamal Ray Chowdhury completes 40 years as a theatre worker in 2005. Way back in 1965 when he was merely 20 years old, he had the temerity to write and direct a play "SURJER PATAN" which was staged as a morning show in Biswaroopa.
Many plays have followed. Special mention may be made of the following plays:

CALCUTTA PERFORMERS

In 1998 Mr. Ray Chowdhury had gone to Bangladesh with his team on being invited by Viswa Kala Kendra, Dacca. The plays TARTUFFE and CHIRAKUMAR SAPHA were performed in front of packed auditoriums.
All the plays mentioned above were directed by Mr. Ray Chowdhury & he feels that the success of these productions depended mainly from the total support he received from his colleagues. He would particularly like to mention the names of Mr. Biplab Dasgupts, Mr. Sukumar Banerjee, Ms. Regina Chatterjee (whose migration to US has been an immense lose to our theatre) Ms. Pragyaparamita Chatterjee, Ms. Srijata Bhattacharya and finally Ms. Mou Bhattacharya (who has won many laurels as a stage actress).
