Dutt
Chowdury & Co. was founded by Sri R. N. Chowdury, a second
world war veteran, in 1947. A businessman of rare insight,
intelligence, and honesty, he was one of the pioneers, who
introduced stone lime in eastern India, replacing the erstwhile
shell-lime and syllhet lime. Over the years, he built up an
unassailable goodwill in retail & wholsale distribution
of lime & lime-based products. Durgapur Steel plant, Alloy
steel plant, Titagarh Paper Mills, Guest-keen Williams, Hindustan
Fertilizers, were some of the industries the firm catered
to. His son, Sri Amitava Chowdhury took over the reins in
1982, and under his able guidance & leadership, the firm
has not only maintained it's goodwill in it's fields of operations,
but also has diversified in many new areas like Manganese
Ore, Iron Ore, Dolomite etc.
Very recently a new firm was launched by the name of Anand
Agro Industries, which manufacture high grade Bio-fetrilizers
and fishfeeds.
