Born into a cultural family Smt. Nabinita Chakraborti rececived training in music at her early age. After her graduation she obtained Sangeet Prabhakar (Classical Music) & Rabindra Prabkhar. Since then she continued to explore the field of music. Her attainment in vocal music:

• Championship in All Bengal Inter School Music Competition, 1956

• Felicitated in a special function by Miss Padmaja Naidu, the then Governor of West Bengal

• Championship in Calcutta University Inter Collegiate Music Competition. Obtained Championship Gold Medal, 1961

• Stood first in Rabindra Sangeet in the All India Inter-University Music Competition held in New Delhi in 1961. Felicitated by the then Prime Minister of India. Late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in a function specially organized for her. Among others, Late Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the then Vice-President of India, Late Dr. K. L. Srimali, the then Education Minister of India were present. Invited by Late Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the then President of India and sang Rabindra Sangeet in a specially organized function in the Rashtrapati Bhawan. Felicitated there also.

• Stood first in Rabindra Sangeet in the All India Radio Music Competition from All India Radio, Calcutta in 1961

• Participated in selected State Level and National Level music soirees since 1970

• Represented India as the only vocalist for all subjects in the “Nikhil Bharat Banga Sahitya-Sammelan” in England in 1994 and participated in musical soirees almost every evening in different places of England for about 15 days. Performance was widely acclaimed everywhere. At the special invitation of the BBC, recorded Folk songs in their Studio before leaving England

• On return to Calcutta, felicitated in a function specially organized for the purpose by leading citizens under the Chairmanship of Sri Annanda Sankar Roy

• Founder Director of a Cultural Institute for Music and Dance (founded in 1991) at IB-147, Bidhannagar, Sector-III, Kolkata – 700 106
