Smt.
Manashi Sengupta LLB, is professionally a Teacher in a renowned School in
Kolkata. Born into a tradition of Music & Dance. Smt. Sengupta is a Dancer
and Composer-Par Excellence. Her compositions are a combination of grace &
creativity. She has been the Recipient of several
awards. Besides the Manipuri
Nritya Bisharad, Titles in Folk Dances and Rabindra Nritya from Bangiya Sangeet
Parishad. She stood second in the All India Folk Dance Examination held by
Bangiya Parishad.
Smt.
Manashi Sengupta received Training in the Manipuri Dance from Manipur, under the
guidance of the esteemed Guru Late Natraj Baldev Sharma and even at a small age
managed to master the TANDAVA LASYA AND BHANGI PARENG. At a latter stage she
came under the tutorage of the world famous exponent of Manipuri Art Form. The
celebrated Late Guru Bipin Singh and his wife Smt. Kalavati Devi. After which
she received the Manipuri Nartan Bisharad from Manipuri Nartanalaya. She has
been successfully staging dance performances not only around Kolkata but also
across the state. Smt. Meanashi Sengupta’s dedication and originality of ideas
materialized the moment she sets her mind to work and her creativity is seen in
the beautiful Dances that her students from our Lady Queen of the Mission School
have performed during KOLKATA’S TRICENTENARY CELEBRATIONS
and at the INUGURATION OF SAF GAMES at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan, where she directed the
items with the rare skills of an exponent. Very large number of young boys and
girls have been trained by her in ANGEEKAM KALAKSHETRAM
her own dance school in
Folk Dance, Rabindra Nritya and other Classical Dances, her dance dramas on
Tagore’s well known compositions need special mention. Gifted with a rare
knack to combine different styles of Folk Dancing. Her own compositions are a
pleasure to watch. She has herself given solo performances in Kolkata
Doordarshan and her students put up a Television Show based on modern relevant
themes.
