non-profit making society established to help the performing
artists to grow up as artists. To help them with a stage and
other necessary back-up support like sponsorships and others.
Kalamandalam also organises and presents the great classical
dancers like yamini Krisnamurthy, Padma Subrahmanyam, V.P. Dhananjayan,
Shobhana in Calcutta for the connoisseurs of the classical performing
arts.

in1968 Kalamandalam Calcutta is the leading classical dance
institution teaching Bharatanatyam, Mohiniattam, Kathakali
and Kuchipudi. the school boasts of six centres for Bharatanatyam
all over Kolkata and has a strength of more than 1200 students
on its rolls.

PERFORMING WING : Under
the choreography and direction of Guru Smt. Thankamani Kutty
and Guru Govindan Kutty the performing wing has performed in
all the major cities of India and has performed quite a few
times in the Middle East, Far East, Europe and America.
Kalamandalam major productions include Kalidasa's Sanskrit classics,
Malayalam, Rabindranath Tagore's dance dramas in Bengali as
well as contemporary ballets choreographed in different South
Indian classical dance forms.

All
donations to Kalamandalam are exempted under 80g of the Income
Tax Act. Cheque should be drawn in favour of "Kalamandalam"

UTSOV :
The
Kalamandalam Annual Dance and Music Festival is held in the
month of December-January, every year. This year it has held
in January from 2nd to 14th 2004. and there were performances
by the famous classical dancers of the city as well as from
different states. Performances included all the Indian Classical
dance styles as well as Sarod and Vocal Recital by upcoming
artists of the city.
WORKSHOPS
:
Workshops
are held in Bharatanatyam, Mohiniattam and Kathakali in Calcutta
and abroad by our Gurus as well as by inviting Gurus from outside.
