ANUP
DASGUPTA notable Indian Classical Guitarist. He is “A” graded artist of All
India Radio & Doordarshan Calcutta. From his early age Anup began to Learn
Vocal Music from his father Late Gopal Dasgupta, a renowned musician and
Composer of India. He received training in Light Music from Prof. Barun Pal
and Late Ranjit Chakraborty eminent Guitar Player.
He is the disciple of Prof. Sanjay Banerjee. Anup has taken talim from famous
sitar player Sri Soumitra Lahiri.
His
close association with Prof. Ajoy Sinha Roy, a famous Sitar Maestro. After that
Anup was under the guidance of Late Prof. Randhir Roy a famous Esraj player and also
he has taken talim from famous vocalist Prof. Ramkrishna Bose and Prof. Sanjoy
Banerjee, a sitar maestro. At present Anup
is the disciple of Sitar Maestro Pandit Debu Chowdhury and Violin Maestro
Pandit V. G. Jog. Anup is a regular Artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan
Calcutta. Presently Anup is working in All India Radio as an Instrumentalist.
Anup
has performed Guitar recital in many concerts such as Bhowanipur Sangeet
Sammilan, Tansen Sangeet Sammilon, West Bengal Music Academy, Sangeet Research
Academy, Bangiya Sangeet Sammilan, Raginee etc.
His
style of playing classical guitar in Gayaki and with improvisation of the
Instrument by combing the playing technique of Sitar, Sarod and Violin. He
also made some original innovation in Harmonics and improvisation bringing the effect of Santoor in the instrument, he is playing.
Anup
is a panelized Artist of Indian Council for Cultural Recreation on Indian
Classical Slide Guitar. He visited Reunion Island at the invitation of the
Ministry of Culture, Reunion Island for a Lecture and Demonstration Tour
in 1995. He also visited USA in 1997 at the invitation of 17th North
American Bengali conference Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
