Apala Basu made a commendable effort as organiser, director and composer of the entire programme. Her creative instincts and flair for putting thoughts to words through painstaking research of the various moods of barsha, as seen by Tagore, found ample expression.

Apala Basu, a Rabindra Sangeet exponent has also been felicitated with an award in the South in 1989 but has yet to receive any offer from our own film industry. Though she is always performing at some function or the other, a voice such as hers deserves much better. - The Indian Express
